bairdy
Tbh I'm in the 'not too bothered' camp about Olly. Imo, he's been a bit of a disappointment to me. But I'll always be grateful for 'that goal' ! ? Don't think he'll be going anywhere for a while. But who knows... If he does go, he'll go with my best wishes for the future. bajthejambo
I'd be happy for Lee to leave if we were to receive an offer that allowed us to reinvest in the squad. I haven't been totally convinced by him up to this point. If he stays and improves then that would be ideal, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Beast Boy
I will no doubt be in a pretty small minority here, but that’s nothing new on here. ? I think Lee is a very good player indeed for us, and I don’t think it’s any coincidence that his form has almost exactly mirrored the availability of good forward players, who allow him to get forward and support them. The ball was ‘sticking’ earlier in the season, and he was playing well. Then when we lost Uche and Naismith, he was having to do work further back in the pitch and although he’s competent enough at that, you just don’t see his attacking attributes when he is forced to operate so deeply. With Dave arriving, Naismith back and Uche on his way, I think he’ll shine for the rest of the season. Ho-hum. All about opinions though. ? OTT
If Stoke want Olly Lee then they can cough up a seven figure sum. Replacing him this window will cost money. Also, I like Lee and reckon once the injuries calm down he'll be back to what he was like early in the season.
Cruyff Turn
I’ve not really made my mind up on Olly Lee. He’s clearly got quality but has been average or anonymous probably more often than not this season but has also played a few blinders as well which shows he’s more than capable. Would like to see him more in an advanced position like he played v Hibs. I think when he’s fully focused on effecting the game further forward and not relied upon to defend he’s a better player for it. If Stoke are offering decent coin though then he’s replaceable but I’d rather keep him until the end of the season and see if he can become more consistent and we get the best out of him. The Hibs game showed why alot of fans had wanted to see him further forward( for some time)and in advanced positions much earlier when we had the ball. We needed to start using his strengths and that is striking the ball and being able to find space. When a player has a significant ability it’s wasteful to play him in areas he’s rarely going to use it. Lee hasn’t shown he’s one to run with the ball, he’s not really a pass picker either and while he didn’t do much wrong sitting further back, it all seemed too safe a role to me for him. I still think he needs to do more when he gets the ball further from goal than shooting distance, but hopefully we continue to play him closer to the forward(s) and see him pick up those loose balls in the last 30 yards.
