It's a strictly upheld rule as far as i can see. Hatem Ben Arfa wasn't able to play for Nice when they first signed him because he'd already played for Hull and Newcastle U21s. It's definitely per season and not per calendar year.

Of course it's right that a player's deemed to have played for two clubs in a season when he's played for two clubs in a season. There's not much grey area there, it's pretty clear. As I said before though, Jordan Jones has scored 2 goals this season and provided 0 assists. Last season, 4 assists, season before 4 assists,in two and a half seasons he has a total of 8 assists. If we had a winger with those sorts of stats he would be getting slaughtered, never mind in a team that is absolutely flying. I think we will be placing Jones in the O'Halloran category before long

heartsfc_fan
I actually don't think we need anymore in. Maybe a winger but with Souttar, Ikpeazu and Cochrane injured that's essentially 3 'new' players still to come back. Then we've got Burns and Edwards who are back but probably only squad players at best.

He's just unlucky he played in League Cup so can't get another loan. Alan Stubbs made that point when current group set up was arranged. That it would harm young players prospects. I think FIFA/ UEFA need to look at that rule again.
