Thanks for your replies, chaps. No, it’s definitely not either Houseproud of Morningside or Hardware. It was down the road quite a bit, on the other side. It may have been in the premises of a baker called Murray’s that was in Morningside about 100 years ago! Thanks again for your efforts. 👍
jb102
I have a vague childhood memory of a hardware shop at around 227 Morningside Road. Same side but up the hill a bit from the Canny Man's. Beside the, ahem, "book"shop.

My best mate back then stayed over it too (John Temple) don’t see him much these days, but he is a hibby. Also the Hendo brothers stayed above it. Good Jambos and if they’re on here they would definitely know.

We were in bed one night and the lads downstairs were being really loud and pumping out music at 2am. I was a bit annoyed to say the least so my girlfriend said she’d go and speak to them as she didn’t trust me to not do something daft if I went down. She came back a couple of minutes later and said they’d told her they could do what they wanted. So I pulled on my trousers and went to their door. Obviously expecting the small polite fashion graduate again he shouted “I thought I told you to **** off” before he aggressively swung the door open. Instead he got the furious, shirtless, definitely not polite bloke with a skinhead at the door. I’m pretty sure he may have soiled himself before lots of stammered apologies and promises to behave in future.

Jambo-Jimbo
Southfield Rovers, anybody ever heard of them? Can't find anything on the internet about them. I believe they might have played somewhere around the Duddingston/Bingham maybe Niddrie area. Probably long defunct now.

Radio Ga Ga
Top of the Walk, completely different nowadays. The he building on the LHS is now the entrance to John Lewis and the buildings on the RHS long gone and where the roundabout with the kinetic sculpture was.
