Morgan
Funny that this thread has come back to the 1st page. I was thinking about it at the weekend and it crossed my mind that @Maroon Sailor has been absent for a good few weeks now. I hope all is well with him. Daktari
Sorry if this has been linked before, but it's quite interesting. Before and after shots taken from the same spot, with a slider so that you can superimpose one over the other and see the changes.... some are done with old prints or engravings but there are some gems. I think one of the Edinburgh papers did something like this too. There's another similar site I will try to find. https://onthisspot.ca/blog/edinburgh
FORTHCLYDE
I usually do well spotting the streets on this. Nobody has posted on here for a while can we have some new pictures? Railway stations are good. Also difficult to spot streets.

Morgan
Can anyone help with a wee question? Especially, I guess, @luckyBatistuta @Stuart Lyon @The Frenchman Returns and @obua? You all seem pretty good at finding stuff and, I know you lived in Morningside, LB. My wife recalls a wee hardware store on Morningside Road in the early to mid-80’s. It was sort of opposite the Post Office and maybe on the premises that is now a wee baker or maybe the Santander (old Alliance and Leicester). It sold things like paraffin, oil, tools etc. I have no recollection of this shop but she swears it did exist. Ran by an old man and his daughter, she also claims! Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Stuart Lyon
Sadly Thomsons' not open. I'm not a local really so don't recall the shop you mention. There is a shop in Argyll Place called Marchmont Hardware that was run lately by a guy and his daughter; sadly the old guy died not that long ago. I wonder if he relocated his shop from Morningside Road? Will do a bit of searching later on.

On their Facebook page it says this We are an independent hardware/cookshop based in the Marchmont area of edinburgh. We stock a wide selection of products for the home & garden. This is our 32nd year in business, but the shop has been a hardware store for over 80 years. Pop in and have a brouse through our many items.
