Boris has repeatedly refused to confirm that he's going to fight for that same seat.

He may parachute himself into one of the ultra-safe home counties seats.

He has already been reselected and wont have time to find a new seat.

He should be fine. Its not like he's pushing for a disruptive No Deal.

I reckon it will be a Tory landslide... labour will be crushed, lib dems will gain a little

In Scotland it will be a SNP landslide, tories distantly 2nd.. labour crushed.

I don’t see where the Tory appeal comes from though. They are awful. Corbyn is also a complete dick. This is worse than X Factor.

Because they are going to give England what they voted... Brexit...

The election campaign (mostly the media coverage) will be a rancid mess.    A horror show.

Yup. More lies, rewriting of history and dodgy foreign interference.

The media as during the referendum,  will be hopeless at taking these chancers to task.

So! This fixed term? Is it now 2 years?

Tories do not seem to like the will of the people.

3 elections in 4 years should be the main attack from the other parties.

Hardly something to shout and scream in pleasure about. People are going to suffer as a result of this, not the way i want to achieve scottish independence.

The Hard Nats, Scottish independence at all cost are as as bad as any brexiteer. The distain for their fellow brit is almost nigel farage level of distain for his follow European.

The Tories aren't going for a hard Brexit. They should run a purely pro-union campaign to hold on to their seats in the North East and Border.

Saw his post on Facebook earlier stating he was standing for re-election as “champion of Aberdeen’s people”

Doesn’t that he voted against his constituents EU wishes 11 times in the commons.

Sadly some folk will be swayed by the indi/Union argument rather than having their constituents troubles tended to.

I think it was around a 4.5k majority over SNP last time round, not a huge ask. But if people who defect from him vote labour instead he could keep his place as Labour were a fair few thousand behind in 3rd.

The most recent Aberdeen local by-election result showed that Labour might take a real doing up there - it could well be a straight fight between the Tories and the SNP.

Scottish Tories are now just a single issue protest party.

They know damn fine that they cannot possibly defend their London head office and the mess their government(s) have made over the last ten years, so they just ignore it.

"Indy Never" is their one and only policy.

Is that not just British politics though, a horror show full of rancid people in it for their own good all under the guise of doing it for the people they are meant to represent?

Was that not what was said about Brexit? Leave the EU and be free to negotiate with everybody? So its a negative to do it currently but a massive positive when an independent country!!!

Seems Boris election campaign got of to a great start.

NHS safe in this clowns hands eh, like the fire service that was blamed for the Grenfell tower fire. He was the one that shut fire stations and made spending cuts.

THe below was tweeted by a MP.

Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for South Cambridgeshire, Ian Sollom, said on Twitter: "Appears Boris Johnson has been booed out of Addenbrookes Hospital on a visit to Cambridge today.

"Cambs has second biggest overspend in England, our residents are being put at risk by this Government's underfunding, with chronic understaffing hitting care hard".

And yet today’s survation poll shows he is more trusted with NHS than Corbyn.

When you going to apologise to that other poster for saying that was ‘utter shite’ when he posted it.  Yeah I know you won’t as not your style to ever admit you were wrong.

So privatisation of the NHS (accelerated in England since 2010, another LibDem achievement) is what people want.

Good stuff.

Thought Corbyn gave a very good speech but will always be stigmatised by the press as an personal anti semite who cheered when the IRA killed anyone.

I think it reflects just how unpopular Corbyn is. Quite a remarkable result.

Jeremy will charm people during the election campaign though.

Simply put he is the Craig Levein of the Labour party

You want him to succeed but you know it's just not going to work and he'll never be the winner you want

He'll be gone by Christmas

Labours only chance is to announce they will hold a second referendum if they win

I agree though this time he isn’t up against May.  Johnson can give as good as he gets and has way more ammunition on Corbyn than may did.

If corbyn resigned tomorrow and Kier Starmer took over and announced that if in power they will immediately have a second referendum they would have a 20/30 seat majority locked up.

They already have.

They'll try to make a new deal, then have a confirmation referendum with "deal" and "remain" on the ticket.

From an un-named senior Tory:

‘Even if Boris's policy was no deal Farage would still oppose and say it's not Brexit because it didn't ban Pizzerias or stop EU nationals managing premiership football teams’

Boris reneges on promise to let the Commons vote on extending the transition period.

Jan 1st 2021 means we either have every deal done or WTO terms.

Boris clearly planning for no deal in 2021 even if his deal passes.

*for clarity, it's been widely touted that a transitional period would need to be two years or more to get everything done.

  • 1 month later...

President Trump has refused to appoint or re-appoint any justices to the WTO court.

This means that it is now unable to arbitrate on any trade disputes.

This means unless you are protected by a formal trade deal, you are at the mercy of any larger trading partner.

Such as the UK being at the mercy of whatever the EU wants.

So the Hard Brexit WTO fantasy is already a nightmare.
