Open Championship. The British Open is the ladies version. ;)

Is this thread going to go as well as my SE7EN thread?

I'm thinking Rahm or Fowler. Mind you Poulter might take some encouragement from last week and put in a good show.

Just had a quick odds deek. A few that leap out.

Oosthuizen 45s

Leishman 50s

Fitzpatrick 75s (18s for top GB&I)

Zach Johnson 75s (25s top USA and 8s top previous champ)

NAP Russell Knox top Jock 3/1. Lump on this.

Or what the Yanks call it.

Don't worry OP. I know this because I made the same error.

Or want the Yanks call it.

Which is immaterial. It is called what it is. The Open Championship.

That was the point I was making, which is why I referred to the error.

Feel free to only part quote me though.

Rickie and Justin again. Looking for someone around 50/1 as an e/w. Probably Oosthuizen.

Mark Leishman was about 60/1 when I looked. Good value. Sky paying up to 10 places too.

Leishman, Garcia & Dufner for me. Maybe even Poulter E/W with skybet payinh 10 places.

Will probably put a couple more on as well.

Another asking to get the thread title changed.

Looks like the early starters might get the best of it tomorrow.

Poulter's mentality is shot when it comes to individual stroke play tournaments, never mind Majors.

With the weather forecast I see Fowler as the best option from the US.

Justin Rose and Louis Oosthuizen are my other picks, but not with any confidence.

Won't be Poulter tho'.

Anyone on here making the trip ? If so, have a great weekend.

Yeah I agree that he probably won't win it but with skybet paying 10 places each way I think he could have a chance of a payout, maybe even Harrington.

Fiver ew on Scott, Grace, Oosthuizen and Leishman. And yes, the thread title needs changed.

My golf society are running a comp whereby you select 6 golfers and their total score is calculated. Best score combined wins.

My six are:

Fowler

Rose

Mickelson

Matsuyama

Casey

Fleetwood

My only bet for the weekend is Ryan Fox EW at 150/1 with SkyBet (10 places).

Yeah but, Paolo, you didn't post a big, effoff picture saying "The Open Championship", did you? :)

I used to follow the golf a fair bit and have picked up a few quid from the bookies on majors in my time. Since it left council telly, though, I've almost completely lost touch. The fact that folk are tipping Porridge Harrington, even as an EW, is a big surprise.

Will stick a couple of quid on Willett simply because you can get him for 275/1!

Like the course layout, normally working 10-6 on sunday, doing a 9-5 to catch the end of play, love the British open.

Just watched Rich Beem trying to have "banter" with Speith, as he was playing out a bunker in the practice round.

:what:

I'm not a Speith fan, but Beem is an idiot.

Can't wait for Butch Harman to look down the camera and tell me some facts

Hope Speith has a shocker by the way. Jammiest player on the tour

Why? Two years ago he won The Masters and US Open, came fourth at The Open and second at the PGA.

Last year he came second at The Masters (after having a disaster at the 12th).

Widely regarded as one of the best putters on tour too.

I wouldn't class him as one of the jammiest.

Put ?1 ew on him. Only did it because of some daft analysis by Hewlett Packard showing that he performs well on links [emoji102]

Fleetwood has played the last 3 or 4 weeks without a break I'm sure. He has the ability and the bottle but he might end up running himself into the ground
