Tell folk they're middle class, tell them it's aspirational, then suffocate them with personal debt for the rest of their lives.

Control the masses, masters at it.  The creation of the middle class was a masterstroke.

The biggest and hardest question for Clown Shoes to answer relates to the Savile slur. Munira Mirza has laid him and people like Dominic Raab wide open to be attacked for standing by that disgraceful savile claim.

Just what I have been thinking.  They are falling on their swords potentially.  Mind you some of their wording in the leaving press releases do not sound like folk who are possibly going to be named as guilty.  All a bit strange.

The PPS would've been the fall guy for the "drinking culture" - he sent out the party invite too.

One gone.

Mirza making it clear she's leaving because she thinks Johnson is despicable.  Fair play to her.

I'm wondering if Sunak is working behind the scenes  now to get his leadership team established/place men esconced  before his hopes die when the NIC increase hits.

There is definitely a move in play.  Very hard to work out who is pulling the strings though.  Personally I do not think Sunak is the man to replace BJ, mind you don't think many of the current Cabinet are.  Guess the whole thing will become clear once the journalists get their moles talking.

What might be more interesting is what Reynolds or Rosenfeld might say to the police, if they feel that they are being made scapegoats.

Reynolds is having a break then going to the Foreign Office.  He might be thinking keep quiet, keep the head down, take a wee slap on the wrist from the Met and my career is safe.

This is like when you pull back a rug and dozens of cockroaches all scatter.

You have to make sure you actually squish the feckers or all that happens is that they just hide until you put the rug back down then they all crawl right back under it again.

The Tories have utterly ****ed this Country. 7% inflation. £700 year more on fuel bills. Absolute bunch of ****s.

Don’t forget, conspicuous by its absence in todays car crash of financial announcements is the very likely ADDITIONAL energy price hike in October (when the Price CAP is reviewed once more), which could be as high as 25%. That would push the average energy bill to £2500 per household, just in time for next winter. Popcorn time!

.......And the big 6 UK energy firms each made more than a billion in profit while fuel poverty increases.

The only way forward for the UK is to build millions of Energy Efficient homes to reduce and end our reliance on the hostile foreign producers of fossil fuels, to reduce energy costs for normal people & those in fuel poverty and improve living standards. Interest rates are high because of inflation, with lower wages, higher costs, normal folk can't afford to get mortgages these days unless they have 60-70k in the bank especially with offers over.

The whole Country is a ****ing shit tip of epic proportions. It's our Country, we should have a right to a better existence. We shouldn't be living at the mercy of energy companies, developers, banks and tax dodgers etc... As Vic said, the gap is constantly widening because these ****ers are setting up a system where they continue to hoard all the money.

The £200 quid off bills is basically a loan - you’ll pay back £40 a year for 5 years. And only recently one of the energy company top guys said that maybe the costs should be spread over a few years.

In effect we’ve reached the point where homeowners need a second mortgage just to heat their home!! An absolute joke.

Thats the way it should be for privatised energy companies too.  If they need more funds to compete in the energy market, first call should be on their shareholders..... not their customers.   Then apply for a long-term loan from their bank.   Just like most other  businesses have to do.

Even the " loyal" cultists are just retweeting the latest propagande  from The Party tonight, trying to make it look as though the resignations are all part of some planned action.

They can't be arsed put  it into their own words , as they were actually asked to do.

But then, what do you expect from a govt whose "levelling up" paper contains whole tranches plagiarised from Wiki.

Yes, looks like some folk in Downing Street support roles have been feeling uncomfortable in their positions behind the scenes.   Whether thats because of BoJo's public outbursts/lies/denials etc,  or because they've seen at close quarters what an utter buffoon he is, isn't clear yet.     I think we can conclude from Cumdog's u-turn  after hitting the jackpot when  BJ appointed him as one of his right-hand advisors that the reality of landing a prestige job in Downing Street quickly loses its shine when your boss turns out to be an incompetent clown.

imo, the crux of all this lays bare just how poor BJ's judgement probably is when appointing "advisors"  .... and indeed his complete reliance on these "advisors" because he is incapable of  analysing events & problems himself to produce sensible responses.   Just because Cumdog came up with off-the-wall gimmicks to sway the public to vote Leave doesn't make him a genius political analyst at Number 10.   Huge mistake to appoint him  - then huge mistake to set a precedent by not firing him after Barnard Castlegate - huge mistake to award him a big pay rise ..... and so on.   Now Cumdog is out for blood because he sees a weak PM whose judgement revolves around "what's best for my career"

The problem for many with the Saville accusation is not the substance of it. Saville raises tricky questions for everyone.

But where it came from. Extreme right wingers on a par with those that say Donald Trump is protecting the world from paedophiles and that Covid isn't real.

I don't think people realise that next year it'll be a triple whammy as their bills will rise by the pretend £200 reduction plus the £40 plus whatever price hike is agreed in October. Hard times lie ahead.

Only Johnson could have made this situation worse for himself by this ludicrous reference to Saville, a campaigner for the Conservatives, who was knighted by the Conservatives. A desperate move from an increasingly desperate idiot.

As you say though, who put the idea in his head? It’s almost as though he’s still being coached by Trump.

Maybe Mrs Johnson isn’t as sweet as she makes out either.

Lot of stuff in there that rings true.

Everyone thinks it is Cummings alone feeding the media.  Could it be a mix of people?  The real hard line Tories do not like tax hikes, certainly not any corporation tax ones.  The latter has been applied.  They also see BJ moving from basic Tory principals.  It might be a handful of these folk are also stoking the fire to get him to resign.  Saves a vote of no confidence.

If you think about the letters they are not piling in but everyday sees another problem arriving and pointing at BJ. Having a vote of no confidence with a guy involved who was perceived to get Brexit done is a risk.  He might win that vote and they would be stuck with him.

I think thats  likely to be the main  consideration for many of those MPs who feel embarrassed at his gaff-filled performance as PM.   Plus the lack of an outstanding alternative.   None of them would relish a night of the long knives if an emboldened Boris and his crew started wreaking revenge on them after winning an internal vote.

His instinct is probably to stick it out for as long as it takes. Eventually some event  will  come along which makes his detractors forget about all this, and instead start to see him as  the "Churchillian" leader he craves to be seen as - something like a war or a bust-up with Brussels maybe.

Similar to Trump, we're seeing how a totally unsuitable leader can manipulate the 24 hour media (which in turn influences opinion among the public) to satisfy their own ego & ambition.    The emperor declares "Forget yesterday's torn clothes, just look at today's stunningly beautiful   new clothes, and they'll be even more beautiful tomorrow".

Tragic & embarrassing stuff to see grown men (and some women too) who represent us behaving  like this.

Spaffer's turn to take the company 737 on a globetrotting trip to the far flung corner of er............Blackpool.

He got there a full 50 minutes earlier than if he'd got the train from Euston.

In a wonderfully topical and serendipitous coincidence, do you know who was fond of the trains?

Thatcher was a great exponent of Saviles BR ads till suspicions were voiced regarding what he’d been doing on his hospital visits. Rightly dropped like a hot potato at that point.
