The Rangers soap opera goes on and on.

Malinga the Swinga

If Dumbarton are paying an annual budget of ?200k to their players (in total), the teams in Div 2 and Div 1 must be paying less. Why did Rangers decide to stump up hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in winning leagues that they were always going to win.

Just madness.

Kevin Kyle on Radio Scotland said he was paid ?100,000 a year at Rangers in the third division and most players were on ?3-400k

Whilst the rest of division were probably on expenses or ?5,000 a year, as part timers.

That answers my question perfectly.

That doesn't answer the question at all.  One of the I Murrays is a sad bigoted loser and the other one played for Hibs.

Because they believe "They are the people"  and the idiots who support them would not have accepted them simply signing players that would have won them the lower leagues.

No, they had to sign the kind of players they perceived were "good enough" to play for them and to hell with the consequences.

That attitude is still there hence their desperate hope that someone with off the radar wealth will come along and allow the manager a war chest to go out and have another spending spree.

They will never learn

This sums it up, they also believed they had to win the Scottish and League Cups, there sense of entitlement and the WATP attitude is what inevitably will kill them

That would make sense as Fatty will need to jusify his fleecing of Rangers in order to minimize the possibility of physical assault by the aggrieved bears.

I think if they had say reduced their wage bill to a mere ?3m for each season, the spivs would still have managed to take the ?4m spare out. Edited by DETTY29

Ian Black left Hearts and had zero offers on the table, mainly due to him being injured. He received notification Rangers wanted to speak to him regarding a contract and was surprised as anybody when he showed up and was offered 4k a week basic. The funniest thing in all of this is he would have played for less than half of his HMFC deal of 3k a week just to earn a living.

Very similar to the old stories that came out of Leeds.

Quite funny listening to Radio Scotland. Some believe Rangers board want NcCoist at AGM to take some of the heat off themselves and if he had been punted, then they would have got the flack.

Also, Ian Murray stating Hearts were massive favourites in his eyes to win league as they had better players than Rangers. He thinks the gap will increase, not decrease over coming weeks. Hope he is right.

It is completely possible, if we win all our games between now and the Rangers game (so win that) and Rangers get beaten by Hibs (very possible.) Then there will be an 18 point gap between us and them by mid-January. And that does not take into account of any points deductions which could happen to Rangers for a number of reasons.

I think it is very possible that Rangers will drop even more 'silly' points against the lower teams in the league.  They seem to be in a bit of meltdown at the moment and the McCoist situation and other off-field developments are hardly likely to help things.  Added to that they may see players leave in January with no money to bring in replacements.

Since we beat them in the league, they have scraped a home win against Cowdenbeath thanks to a deflected goal, and were outplayed at QoS, not to mention throwing away a 2 goal lead against Alloa in the Petrofac semi.

I would expect Hibs to beat them in the league, but can also see them struggle in other games and maybe drop more points.

While it is inevitable that we will drop points in games we would expect to win, as things stand Rangers will drop even more.

Of course it's possible that we could win all our games before the game at Ibrox, but it's also possible (though less likely) that Sevco will win all theirs. Let's not get too much ahead of ourselves -  just start off by taking 3 points off Alloa on Saturday then concentrate on the Cowden game and so on.

I don't think Salary is going to leave having signed a confidentiality agreement. He'll want to leave and spill all.

The board won't want him to leave and spill all, so will have to cough up an inordinate amount of money.

An absolutely hilarious day and it just kept coming. I am surprised the the quote from HibbyHun Paterson in the Hootsman was missed though

?Of course it is a no-win situation for the SFA but they laid down a marker when they put Rangers down and demonstrated that even one of the biggest clubs in the country would be held accountable and treated like everyone else,? he said. ?They can?t turn around and bend the rules now and that could become a major problem.?

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

Then latterly we went the other way and would agree terms with a player then when he had the contract to sign the salary was lower than agreed.

I remember the Player/agent supposed talk at Leeds prior to them walking in to meet the owner.

Agent to player "We won't let them bully us. 10,000 a week is what we'll ask for"

Owner "we'll offer you 15,000 a week.

Agent "15,000"

Owner "fine 20,000"

Agent "what"

Owner "ok 25,000 but that's our final offer, take it or leave it"

Agent "we'll take it"

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2012/feb/28/seth-johnson-england

Seth Johnson, previously of Derby, was the player in question. An oft-repeated story, but, according to this article, not actually true!

Is this where Ashley makes a last minute offer to loan them the money to punt McCoist and pay this months wages with the loan secured by the Big Hoose and Murray Park?

Yeah, probably. PMGB suggesting that Ashley will take up an in-house share offer in order to get up to 29.9% so he doesn't need to make a formal offer to own the club. That would raise ?6m plus player sales making another ?2m (optimistic and simplistic if you ask me). I think that you're probably right and MA will now get his hands on the Big Hoose as a security. He's getting everything in place. Remember Sevco need to pay him back his ?3m in March!

The way things look to me The Rangers should be more worried about the 3 teams below them at the moment rather than worry about catching us. If they were to get a points deduction then they may well be lucky to make a play off place. Falkirk are currently in 4th spot 9 points behind them.

We just need to be concentrating one game at a time and looking for 3 points at each time of asking. Undoubtedly a very interesting holiday period awaits.

Yup. I heard the same thing. Get it done by mid January and then when he goes to the meeting at the end of the month. He tells Doncaster, etc he's the only man willing to save the rangers and to hell with owning two teams!

Surely he has bigger fish to worry about than the SFA if that's his tactics. What about uefa?

OK I am just up but.... Is he just ignoring the 9 or 10% agreement?

Part of that agreement is that he would have no influence over the running of the Club, but as he's already forced out two directors, and replaced them with two of his own guys then - yeah - I think it's safe to say he's ignoring the agreement.

Only becomes a problem if both are competing in the same tournament

It comes down to the same wuestion why is MA there ? If its purely asset stripping and securing the profitable parts then he doesnt need to buy shares, a few loans with security to property does that for him.

The key question of the SFA is why did they insert the clause about dual ownership. What are they trying to stop, especially if they are going to back down at the first opportunity? Which they did by allowing the increase from 3 to 10% in the first place.

Let's assume MA gets 29% control.

This means

- the SFA has indicated ok, but MA has to go through protocol.

- If not, then subject to rules, the SFA do something similar to the Championship (or was it the FA) qith Leeds give him a timescale to sell up and move away from Rangers completely. Cynic in me says by end 2016 in line with MA NUFC exit plans.

- Suspend Rangers licence until he exits Rangers.

Sub question is why do they have rules with pinishments if they significantly defer from, notably one team

They should put that as an example of a half-life on the schools' science curriculum. The Rangers share price is toxic and has a half-life of one year.

Could be a great time for ANY punter to by them for a trading gamble  if, if, he was serious about getting them into Europe in a couple of years time.

But, who can tell what his plans are.
