Simo Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Bad Boys - Had never seen it but enjoyable watch. A few cheesy/funny lines, easy to follow if a bit ridiculous and decent action shots and explosions etc especially given it must be 20+ years old. 8/10 Quote
Jambos_1874 Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 American History X. A solid 8/10. Superb film with fantastic acting and a brilliant performance from Edward Norton. I was shocked yo learn how little it grossed at the box office. Quote
1971fozzy Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Leon - ages since I watched it but recently bought the 4K disc and it’s such a great film. Gary Oldman is stark raving bonkers in it. Superb stuff and the 4K is a huge upgrade in PQ from the bluray Quote
Harry Potter Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Watched The Prodigy on netflix last night, not too bad, bit too gory for me though. Quote
rudi must stay Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 Project Power Very good Netflix film 7.5/10 Quote
Shanks said no Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 (edited) The Peanut Butter Falcon 9/10 for originality Very unusual path for Hollywood to go down as it tells the story of a lad with Down’s syndrome. Has made an unlikely star of Zack Gottsagen. Although I was cynical when she put it on, as Mrs F is forever watching Undateables etc, it kept us engrossed, including our son, right until the end. Strongly recommend available on Netflix Edited August 17, 2020 by The Frenchman Returns Quote
Maple Leaf Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Johnny English Strikes Again with Rowan Atkinson. I've no idea how I managed to watch it all the way through. It was awful. Quote
Muppetboy Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 Watched the apostle on Netflix. Had really high hopes after 10 mins but it didn’t live up to that early promise. 6/10 Quote
Ron Burgundy Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Watched Nil by Mouth last night. First saw it over 20 years ago and it's still as powerful now. To think there are thousands of people who's lives are actually like that is quite sad. Quote
Hector Riva Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Watched last night Yesterday 8/10 and Marvellous as recommended on here 9/10 even my wife liked it. Quote
luckyBatistuta Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Just turned off Project Power...what a load of shite, couldn’t watch any more. 1/10 Quote

Supposedly it's not at all how it looks and is actually a really good film but the initial Netflix marketing just was obviously targeting their American viewers. This is the real poster which was used until Netflix got their hands on it. No such thing as bad publicity I guess. Quote

JudyJudyJudy Posted August 23, 2020 Posted August 23, 2020 “ brute force “ 1946 film with the great Burt Lancaster . Really good prison drama . Lancaster had a great screen presence . I also watched “ Spartacus “ for the first time . It was great apart from a fairly wooden performance from Kirk Douglas but a brilliant performance from Laurence Olivier . It’s great to contrast their acting styles . Charles Laughton was also great in it . Also watched “ Judy “ about the last year of Judys life . It was ok but left a lot out about this time and was a bit saccharine diluting the mess she was in towards the end of her life . However Zellweger really caught the Essence of Judy , her warmth , humour and compassion . I’ve been lucky to see both her daughters in concert and both are certainly chips off the old block . Quote

Basically little miss nice meets boy with tats at college and they fall in love. Unfortunately a sequel is being/has been made. Mrs F made me keep it on. English boy is one of the Fiennes family. Available on Netflix Quote

Ron Burgundy Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Howards Way - story of Howard Kendall years at Everton. Really enjoyed it. Busby - Film about Sir Matt Busby at Man U, also really good. The Rise of Jordan B Peterson - Didn't know that much about the guy but I'd love him to sign up to Kickback. Quote

Carl Fredrickson Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Took the kids to the cinema for the first time in months on Friday to see Jurassic Park. A film both of them love but they are too young to have seen it on the big screen. It is a film that I have seen lots but the big screen makes it so much better. 7/10 Disney+ is a favourite in our house. The One and Only Ivan was a decent watch. Kids will love it. I thought it was ok but it was inspired by a true story that got me looking on Google for it. Kids will give it 9/10, I thought it was 7/10 Magic Camp. Another one that kids will like. A few funny bits but very much a Disney formulated film. Quote
Ray Gin Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Raman Raghav 2.0 7/10 Indian thriller on Amazon Prime about a deranged man with a penchant for caving people's skulls in, who models himself on a notorious serial killer from the 60s. Quote
rudi must stay Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Ghost In The Shell Really slick film. Great to look at, easy to follow story. It has its weaknesses but about half way through it hits some form and becomes the film I'd hoped. 8/10 Quote

Cmon I hope that's a high 7 I was swithering between a 7 and an 8 but it is a film that we watch A LOT so it may be that familiarity caused me to mark it down. Todays film was Unhinged. Booked a ticket without knowing what it was about (desperate to get out today). Russell Crowe is the big name in it and I would liken it to a cross between Fallen Down & Carrie but without the humour and a lot more violence. Its predictability means it gets a 5/10 Quote

William H. Bonney Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Host. 8/10 I watched this on shudder, an amazon prime Channel. six friends take part in a seance on zoom. It’s less than an hour long but it’s Very good. Easily the most effective horror I’ve seem in a good while. Quote
Tazio Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 Wonderful Losers. Documentary on Amazon about racing cyclists. Not the glamorous ones, the domestiques or gragarios who are in the team to support the leaders. Great as there was no real voice over just the stories of the riders. Non cycling fans don’t realise just how hard these riders are, amazing footage from inside the doctors car of riders getting patched up as they ride holding onto the door of a car at 30mph getting fed painkillers so they can keep going. One amazing bit of footage of a rider getting back on after a crash clearly with a broken collarbone and riding the rest of the stage one handed. 10/10 if you’re a cycling fan 8/10 if you’re not just to see what they go through and get an insight to a strange world.
