Fascinating. Lovely building too. The only clue I can see so far is that those look like French Eagles.

The zoo?

Edit: I must have been typing the zoo when you posted that.

Falcon Hall in Morningsid. Demolished in 1909

The gates are now part of the entrance to the zoo. Which is why they look familiar.

Great find Tazio, did you get to it because you recognised the gates?

Stunning building and sad that it was demolished.

Googled "Wellington and Nelson in Edinburgh" as I recognised the figures in the statues.

Christ sake man, what did you have to mention chianti for. I'll tell you now that it's not in Edinburgh, just in case my posts become jibberish.

Your in the wrong country if that helps.

And I'd managed to persuade myself that the coat of arms was an old Corporation of London one and the statue was in a cemetery. :) Who else would have two rampant dragons? Ok, the search continues...

Sorry for mentioning the chianti. Your secret's safe with me.

Thanks. That last photo reveals so much more. ;)

Last night, the only coat of arms I could find that was anywhere near having a cross fleury between four escallop shells was for the Fletcher family (without the fancy griffin supporters). Does this have any bearing?

First wild shot of the day. A war cemetery in France.

You said that the country was wrong when I mentioned London.

I see, you weren't talking about the UK when you said "country", were you? :)

Do you know how much time I've spent looking at pictures of statues in European graveyards... :D

Easy Rider

Serves you right after confusing me with "country" :)

@netherleejambo: By the way, all the links I'm finding say that the Italian Benevolent Society Tomb is in St Louis Cemetery #1, not #2.
