The writer there calls her "Our Lady of Madrid" but that's not her name.  Maybe want to Google "poetic licence".

 

Some Googling around backs you up, indicating that the phrase appears to have been invented by the one article.

 

My apologies. I too assumed that the article was describing the statue's genuine title.

 

Poetic licence indeed. :)

"Our Lady of" indicates a Catholic saint, which Cibeles wasn't. She was a Greek goddess.

 

The patron saint of Madrid is La Virgen de la Almudena.

 

Her cathedral:

In that case you may as well have called her a Roman goddess since she was absorbed into Roman mythology too. ;)

You're right in a lot of things there big man. However, Our Lady does not refer to saints but it is what me and my fellow Catholics call the Virgin Mary.
