milky_26
The chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Jorge Ivan Palacio (Colombia), in use of the powers granted by article 51 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC), has decided today to provisionally suspend Mr. Luis Rubiales from all football-related activities at national and international level. This suspension, which will be effective as of today, is for an initial period of 90 days, pending the disciplinary proceedings opened against Mr. Luis Rubiales on Thursday, August 24. Likewise, the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee and in order to preserve, among other factors, the fundamental rights of the national soccer team player Ms. Jennifer Hermoso and the good order of the disciplinary proceedings before this disciplinary body, has issued two additional directives (article 7 FDC) by which he orders Mr. Luis Rubiales to refrain, through himself or third parties, from contacting or attempting to contact the professional player of the Spanish national football team Ms. Jennifer Hermoso or her close environment. Likewise, the RFEF and its officials or employees, directly or through third parties, are ordered to refrain from contacting the professional player of the Spanish national team Ms. Jennifer Hermoso and her close environment. Doc Rob
By the sound of it, this could all have been avoided with a fulsome public apology: ‘I was caught up in the moment, it was wrong and I am terribly sorry.’ Chances are it would have been graciously accepted and everyone can move on. But the guy has now behaved like a massive tool, and there is no way out of this for the Spanish FA that involves him staying in post. I appreciate that there is a point being made here - as a member of the World Cup winning team, Hermoso has more power and more agency than women generally do in these situations, and she’s taking the opportunity to call him out for his bad behaviour. Which might not, in itself, have been all that terrible, but his antics since have made it pretty clear that she was right to do it.

You can also have an opinion on how bad an offence is, nothing wrong with that. Some people are brutally exploited and some women are horribly treated. I don't think this offence on it's own is anywhere near what some want to make it ( woman also agree with me), ofc, some folk can claim sexual assault, no excuse, etc and demand all types of punishment. That debate is perfectly normal. "Just shut up" and listen is also a bad road to go down imo, that kills debate and further divides society. I disagree with that philosophy on almost all matters. The reaction of the fa and his excuses are bizarre imo as well as his alleged behaviour in the past it dors create an image of " not a nice" person and a liar. Would spell the end of televised women's football for a start; or worse you happen to see a women behind the wheel when looking at the traffic and it makes her feel uncomfortable. What about blind people, or is it not the act of looking that's the issue? Spellczech
It was certainly strange to watch him grabbing the team one after another and kissing them on the cheek sometimes multiple times. Certainly the wife and me noticed when he grabbed Hermoso and switched to the lips but I thought he must know her better than the rest or something. Have to say we laughed at his behaviour and said it was a bit OTT, then when he got to woman 8 or something that he should maybe calm down or he'll get in trouble! Personally I thought the crotch-grabbing at a women's WC Final was a worse transgression than kissing the winning team...but that one seems to have quietly slipped into the background. I think now it must be about old scores being settled. He could've diffused the situation but chose the nuclear option and now it has all gone pretty OTT. He'll end up leaving so I can only assume he is hanging in there for the best payoff he can get.
