Looking like a sad end to this story, and a lot of people with egg on their faces.

You think.  Did she jump, was she pushed, was she hit in the head.  Just wait for it all, sure to start soon.

All so sad- lot of folk not covered themselves in glory with this- can't even imagine what her loved ones have gone through. Guess it's some closure at least

A lot of ****ing weirdos will move on to the next thing to be weirdos about.  Hopefully that super-duper search expert gets himself a job he can actually do.  The only important thing is that two young girls have lost their mum.  Hopefully they'll get some peace to be looked after.

This.

They’ll no doubt still be claiming covid was a government hoax, silly c****.

Who needs experience, qualifications & training, when you can just read any unverified p*** on Facebook and take it as gospel…

I mean we already knew social media was filled with absolute thick as **** spangles but this case has sadly brought them well into the mainstream. Hopefully if this turns out to be this poor woman her family can get some closure and begin the grieving process. Really has been an awful incident.

Handled terribly? yes.

Hoax? I think the 200k+ dead people in this country would probably disagree.

You should tell that to the 2 folks at my work who were in coma's for over a month with it.

Indeed, back on topic.

Seems like the specialist diving team didn’t search the area where the body has been found.

Think the thread should be closed once formal identification has taken place.

A little respect to the friends and family wouldn’t go amiss.

Aye, good idea, the family are all kickback members right enough reading this.

It’s obvious you wouldn’t know respect if it kicked you in the balls.

I’ll leave you to your smart arse replies and back slapping off of equally disrespectful flumps.

The post mortem should take care of that.

Yeh I heard similar on the news, that some folks online are claiming that as a road runs close to where the body was found, a car or van could have parked near there and the body dumped in the river.

That's the thing with conspiracy theorists.

Even when confronted with facts and evidence they'll just twist reality to meet their own bonkers mindset.

Everything is fake. It's all a conspiracy.

The only "truth" is the crazy theory in their warped mind.

:) I've been an admirer of Shankland for a fair while, since his successful stint at Ayr United, so no.

Has Shankland been found dead in a river in Lancashire?

Me too, spectacularly wrong.

Maybe the post mortem will exonerate me a bit.

Didn't think the body could have crossed the weir (if she went in upstream of it)

Unless an unverified Facebook profile posted it, then it’s definitely true…

Facebook is radge but there’s no denying that a 23-day search ending in her being found by walkers less than a mile from where the search started is the absolute height of incompetence.

Resignations will follow this, surely

Tangled up under the heavy undergrowth by the rivers edge is that right?

Where is the fisherman when you need him?  I thought the body if first it went into the river a mile upstream could not have got so far down with the low water levels or indeed over the weir?  Assuming the location the body was found was indeed past the weir.

Are you meaning me?

I honestly couldn't and can't see how a body would get over the weir and a mile down stream in the water conditions around that time, if I'm wrong I'm wrong, happy to admit it.

Yep.

I stuck to she is in the river but to be honest I thought your posts, with all the local knowledge were pretty sound.  All the pictures of the river appeared to back up what you were saying.  However the media, and no doubt the Police soon are going big on it being tidal hence the distance from the bench and her phone.

What are you thinking now?

Appreciate you putting your hand up but who knows what will come out.  This will grow arms and legs for a bit yet unfortunately.

I could only go on what I knew about the area and the water and weather conditions in the area, it just didn't stack up for me, and it still doesn't if I'm honest but she's been found in the river so obviously I was wrong.

We'll have to see what comes out in the future.

I apologise if it comes across as disrespectful in any way but I'm glad that one positive thing to have come from all this is that folk may now have more of an idea about the emotional changes, physical issues and stress, sometimes long-lasting, that the menopause can cause for women.

An unbearable tragedy for the family, horrifically handled by the police and an appalling record of where we are as a society. Poor lassie.

If that has anything to do with it.

Whether or not it has anything to do it. It's not something that is much discussed in the media, particularly in main stream media rather than media aimed at women themselves. There has already been a welcome increase in debate on the subject.
