I see the guy who kidnapped that wee lassie in Borders has been charged with abduction and rape.

The record says the man also goes by the name of Amy. Wonder if it should be they?

No, sexual assault. Not good, but not rape either.

3 weeks on and still no answers for Nicola 's partner, daughters, family and friends.

You do wonder how / when she might be found.

Some online threads are taking this much too far now.. I am genuinely shocked with what I have seen posted today about Nicola and her partner 😒

JKB is more supportive in my opinion. No tittle tattle here.

.... apart from a couple of posters who have already declared her partner Paul guilty of murder.   😲

Unfortunately theres little chance of the useless but underfunded Police finding her.

I'm normally against the death penalty, but in cases like this it's hard to find an argument against hanging scum like him.

I've got to admit I'm not in favour of capital punishment like you, but, I'd gladly pull the lever that would see him and his like sent to hell.

I wonder if you can attach a GoPro to a bull terrier's head?

Doctor FinnBarr

For some reason this reminds me of the Vikki Hamilton case, found x amount of years later 400 miles away.

Tobin would have got away with her murder and the other lassie found in the same garden if he hadn't returned to Glasgow and killed the Polish lassie.

I read an article many moons ago about how the electric chair executions worked in U.S.   Apparently there were at least 2 levers involved - but only one of them actually sent the high voltage current to the chair.  One prison guard on each lever.   WHen the order was given each guard pulled his lever - the reason was to lessen the "burden of guilt"   (PTSD in todays lingo) any of the guards felt at killing another human being, through not knowing if it was his lever "wot did it".

I think there's a similar system in the lethal injection systme to, I read that in a firing squad there was only one live cartridge in the rifles so who ever fired it they wouldn't know, but there's a big difference in firing a live round and a blank so you'd know well enough if you fired the live round.

it's getting out with wet clothes when the weight issue starts.

....... which is the most important part !!   😉    Your analogy with waders when you're fishing though isn't really comparable.   You're already wading  in the water voluntarily (2 to  3 ft of it) and if you stumble and fall, you know what its going to feel like -  cold & wet.   You're almost prepared for it.        But a non-fisher slipping in unexpectedly off a steep bank will probably experience an out-of-control  shock factor, then a cold/wet shock factor (regardless of clothes), then a sense of panic - even if the water is  only  3 ft.

One thing the reporting of Nicola's disappearance has highlighted is the worryingly large number of people who go missing and never seem to be traced or found.    Do some of them must  deliberately for whatever reason ?    Whether they manage to find a way of surviving in a new life without detection is a bit of a mystery.     I wouldn't know how to last more than a few days without being detected !!

Is it not that there is one blank round and the rest are live.  Risky just having one live round, what happens if that person misses or only wings the person, gotta do it all over again.

The shooters’ identities are kept anonymous, and one of their rifles is loaded with a blank round so nobody knows which officer killed the inmate.

Yep, I may have got it the wrong way around, my point was that you would know if it was a live or blank you fired👍

You absolutely definitely would!

You can feel the difference in recoil if you change the weight of the bullet, if I go from a 70 grain bullet to a 105 grain bullet the difference in recoil is obvious, a blank just goes "Pop" and then a puff of smoke.

I don't know but I presume the rifles would be loaded by someone else and handed to the soldier ?

The ‘shooter’ knows he’s firing a blank. Usually a cadet. Call it an introduction to the firing squad if you will.
