Dunno about that John.  Willie Henderson, Jimmy Johnstone and Eric Stevenson. They all just sprinted into the box and fell down if anyone came near them. You'll probably remember.

They did.

He's a great striker. Unfortunately, he'll always be known as a cheat.

Why?
Does that put him in the same category as Henri and Maradonna, to name a very few.

It looks like Harry Kane’s downfall on here is threefold.

1. He’s English.

2. He’s not Scottish.

3. He’s not got a Bobby Charlton hair-do.

Imagine if he’d been born on the Isle of Skye, had three haggis on his shirt and had a hairstyle akin to Kojak.

Yet to deliver when it matters ??

3 times top goal scorer in the Premiership despite playing for Spurs (including last season).

he delivers every week in life - not his fault the rest of his club team are mince (couple of exceptions)

im not a huge fan due to his cheating/antics but suggesting he’s yet to deliver when it matters is absolute nonsense …..

If folk think Harry Kane is a great, ask to see his medals.

Well you’ve just consigned a hell of a lot of great Hearts players over the years to mediocrity.

Hearts won nothing for the best part of 40 years.

We had some cracking players tho.

Some shite players also win trophies.

Daft point to make.

Apart from one in particular...

Ivan Toney or Jorginho are your men for penalties.

Didn’t Jorginho accept the blame for Italy not qualifying for the World Cup due to his missed penalties during qualifying.

Kane is best penalty taker I’ve ever seen. His penalties in the last World Cup were brilliant.

Oh he's a great Spurs player - but hardly one of the greats of English/world football which was being suggested.

Jorginho missed against England in Euro final and also missed two v Swiss.  Before that I would have agreed

according to transfermark kane has taken 58 penalties (i dont think it includes shootouts) and he has scored 50 of them missing 8. the last one he missed was v denmark in last summers euros, he did score the rebound but as it stands he only has a 86% success for scoring penalties

Graham Alexander is the correct answer. Never missed one in his entire career.

No, not yet he isn’t.

Righto.

First off, he’s 28 years old.

If, and I’m speaking hypothetically here, he gets a transfer to, say Real Madrid, wins 5 or 6 La Liga titles and lifts the World Cup for England, would he then be considered a ‘great of English/world football’?

I think he would.

He's definitely one of the world's great goalscorers. He just needs to up his branding game. Grow a ponytail, get a celebrity girlfriend and launch a line of K10 clothing or something. That's the EPL way.

If his wife was in a 'girl band' would that help?

The Bannon Flick

There a far more “easy” international games these days compared to when Charlton was playing.

Kane is decent but it’s not a fair comparison.

And he couldn’t score against the famous JT’s

Talking of penalties, maybe this is a consequence of watching decent penalty takers over the years (Robbo, Cameron, Presley, Hartley) but when we used to get a penalty it felt like more or less a guaranteed goal.

The last 5 or 6 years following Hearts it feels like 50-50 if we are going to score. Anyone else or just me?
