Equalled Sir Bobby Charlton’s goal tally for his country tonight.

Some say he’s not a good striker though.  🤷🏿‍♂️

He's a great striker. Unfortunately, he'll always be known as a cheat.

True, but you’d forgive him if he played for Hearts and/or Scotland!

I wouldn't to be honest Morgan.

I think, if our national team had a player that had (already) scored 49 goals, you’d give him a wee break?

Similarly, if he was our striker, and he took the odd dive here and there, you may turn a wee blind eye?

Couldn't lace Bobby Charltons boots can't stand him always looking for a penalty compare that twat to Dennis Law not in the same league

Who said he wasn’t a good striker? Serious question.

I don’t like him ‘cos he’s a diving, cheating twat. In terms of being a proven, consistent goalscorer then there’s not really an argument.

He’s ‘in the same league’ goal wise though, Andi.

And, that was the point/intention of the thread.

A few on here (more than a few, maybe) gave him him virtually no credit during the last couple of international tournaments.

Ok, he looks for a bit more than he deserves, he drops a wee bit quick, but he’s still damn good.

I've panned Ginnelly on here before for a couple of embarrassing dives. I don’t care who they are, if a player is a cheat, it doesn’t matter how good they are, they'll always be a cheat.

Nevertheless, he's a great striker.👍

You seen his tongue? Trips over it to win all those pens ...

Did we not take the West Ham Huddy ahead of him on loan back in 2013/4?

Needs to move to a club where he's going to win something or he's just going to be an other Alan shearer

Just....

Shearer has a medal btw

Great player but I would pick Vardy ahead of him.

Kane has been pish since the Euros up until about 6 weeks ago. Since then he's nearly been as good as Simms with his workrate.

He'll score loads though and should always thank Jammy Muckdonut for showing him that missing from the spot on your debut doesn't define your career.

Did Bobby Charlton take the penalties for England ?

You've confused me !

Anyway Kane has 4 Irish grandparents . He is as English as me .

Unfortunately he is a very good player

He’s a top quality modern day striker

Apparently he was the top assist provider in the EPL season 20-21.

178 goals from 270 apps for Spurs, 49 goals from 68 apps for England.

Diving cheat, but he gets the goals, and the assists.

Is Denis not the Irish spelling? Dennis The Menace wasn’t Irish.

Penalties weren't awarded as easily when Charlton played compared to nowadays.

Couldn't score a penalty against Jamie MacDonald though.

He is unbelievable. Can do it all. Probably the best passer and finisher in the division, in my opinion.

Needs a move away from Spurs though. I admire the loyalty but despite having Conte and some other good players - Son, Romero being the standouts I still can’t see them winning anything.

Still convinced he will get his move.

I think the biggest mistake with Kane is staying at Spurs.

If he had taken that move to City he would have a frightening goal tally already this season.

He is a great striker, without him Spurs are much less competitive and effective

Not sure why the OP would mention that some say he's not a great striker.  So what.

By no means having a go here but I would rate him as a very good striker but would not class him as one of the greats.  More than happy for others to rate him higher than I do.

Shearer won the league.

If it wasn't for Son hed be average, and I'd score more than Bobby if I was the striker for England. BC wasn't really the main striker. Hurst, Greaves etc... were.

Anyway, not for me , if I had the choice. The big Pole is the best around and the french lad is superior anaw

Anyway as Souness would say on behave of Bobby"Where's yer medals?"

Posted

If I could be bothered, I'd draw up a list of greats.  Pele, Eusebio, Fontaine, Ronaldo, Messi.  Plenty more.

Kane may become one but he's got a long way to go.

Have no idea why they didn't push the boat out to get him instead of Grealish.Everything about him looks perfect for how City play.

He is a very good striker but is also way, way overrated by the English media, heard several pundits call him the best centre forward in the world over the years which has never, ever been the case. He’s also yet to deliver when it really matters most & is a bit of a stat padder especially in an England jersey

Dunno about that John.  Willie Henderson, Jimmy Johnstone and Eric Stevenson. They all just sprinted into the box and fell down if anyone came near them. You'll probably remember.

Yet to deliver when it matters ??

3 times top goal scorer in the Premiership despite playing for Spurs (including last season).

2nd top scorer at the Euros behind Ronaldo …

178 goals in 270 games for spurs

49 goals in 68 games for England

he delivers every week in life - not his fault the rest of his club team are mince (couple of exceptions)

im not a huge fan due to his cheating/antics but suggesting he’s yet to deliver when it matters is absolute nonsense …..
