Open goal, unmarked very close in.

Usually on the ground, ball not too fast, plenty  time to adjust feet, requiring little movement or effort to get the ball into the goal.

If the keeper is in the way of the ball and the goal I wouldn't class it as a sitter as clearly you have to have direction to beat the keeper, that takes it away from sitter territory for me and towards  bad miss/ unlucky /  good save territory.

Something like

He missed 2 or 3 sitters. No doubt about that.

Spot on, he’s even going about the use of words in his usual illegible fashion 😆

I have a clear picture of what a sitter is.

Folk need to use words and phrases properly.

Too many phrases like shock, unnacaptable, sitter, must win etc get thrown about too easily.

Sitter is worse than a bad miss and Tbh if it is blocked or saved it just makes a mockery of the usage of the word.

If it was saved it was never a sitter.

Nonsense. 😜

I blame the Internet and folk needing attention by creating drama.

I'd never do that.

Ok think I got your idea clear now .

So how would you categorise a free header 6-7 yards out keeper to beat, misses target.? I am guessing it goes under bad miss.

Be good to know a non dramatic view

Great to get back to winning ways again, let’s put Goodwin and the sheep in the pens on Wednesday.
Saturday night is always good after a win.

Bad miss / bad finish.

If there is a keeper to beat it can't be a sitter as you need to beat them, by doing this you need use direction and/ or power. This takes it away from sitter territory.

Can be shite tho.

Liked the look of the formation when I saw the team, seems to have worked well. Hope Kingsley is ok.

Yep thought we played some nice stuff early doors apart from a couple of Bad misses/sitters/shocking miss * delete as appropriate

Thought the sending off actually set us back until half time.

Toiling to break down 10 man St Midden is of no shock to me. It just highlights how piss poor a Manager Neilson is. Couldn't give a jot what some think but there is no way these players are behind Neilson.

We didn’t toil to break them down. Shocking finishing from Boyce, Ginelly and initially Simms made a 5/6-0 win 2-0.

Cochrane for Atkinson, the tinkering is different level this week🙈

Atkinson was getting roasted by Jones. Had to make the change.

Never easy to play against ten men but we seem to have made quite a few chances, going to watch it later as my steam cut out earlier.

Had also been booked. So had Devlin and both hooked. Subs were good today and last thing anyone would want is to give away our extra man advantage.

Weak refereeing there. What was Devlin booked for?

Making stupid comments and getting involved with their player just because ref didn’t give us a pen. Good decision to hook him before red.

Free header 7 yards out centre of the goal and fails to hit the target?

Would like to hear your definition of a sitter

I will up the ante on your post. 7 yds out. Centre of goal.  Free header. And it goes 10 yds *** wide. He was awful today ( finishing wise at least)..

Exactly.  Lots of our fans not happy when Devlin went off and lots didn’t appreciate Cochrane replacing Atkinson despite the alternatives being Moore or Halliday

Up to them I suppose. Ten men need to do more running and more work than eleven. As well as the fact both had been booked it’s a smart move to get fresh legs on the pitch against ten.

Thankfully we had the equally capable replacement right back Halliday to take control when Kingsley went off.

Talk about semantics😎

Some folk will spout all kinds of guff to try and prove their point. When I played that was a sitter of the highest order.

We are in serious bother as a team. We have been sussed out big time but in all honesty if we didn’t have a borderline world class keeper we would be way down the table. Honking team….even worse manager.

Our world class keeper didn’t have a save to make today. We should have scored 5/6/7 today but for poor finishing. I can’t remember a more comfortable victory in Paisley. My memory isn’t what it was but I was surprised, and impressed, by our control of the game today even when 11 v 11. As I said, better finishing and it was a rout. That’s against the team that a number on here were saying were our biggest rivals for third before the game.

Well, that's not what the St Mirren manager thinks.  He thought terrible decisions went against his side and they should have won.

Hope our lads remember that when we see him again shortly.

Yes , heard him on radio, he certainly got a few incidents mixed up. Confused already though given his results over last three teams he has managed it’s not hard to see why. Won’t last five minutes in Paisley.

Nah, that means there is sitters missed every game, every week.

There aren't, if something is common it's not a sitter.

We need to use, or try to use words properly or we dilute them all to mean the same thing.

Sitters are/or should be reserved to describe extraordinarily bad misses as I described above.

If the keeper is in the way it can't be a sitter imo.

Unless that keeper is / was popodum hands, then my rules don't apply.

Tbh, any strike from 30 yards then becomes a sitter.

Once or twice.  It's a remarkable thing, and most definitely not in a good way! The average amoeba has more capacity for logical thought than some posters on that thread!

What Hearts fans did I Abuse?

I've been abused directly about 3 times in the last hour.

I've even been called the worse poster by a guy who has an alias of "spit on a stranger".

Anyway, clearly you're not here to discuss football.

I generally start on topic but get side tracked as folk get personal and abuse from the off.

I don't troll  threads just to argue and abuse folk and ignore the thread content.

Unlike many seem to do.
