If NATO wanted to defeat Russia, it would simply put boots on the ground and steamroller it's way through the fodder of the Russian army and destroy it completely. Yet Britain we are told is a model democracy with an unelected House of Lords and a government elected by around 40% of the electorate. Many European nations have stumped up a few hundred million to fund the purchase of the 800,000 shells the Czechs had a line on. In fact, they had so many pledges that they've now also found another 700,000 shells and just need a couple of other nations to pitch in and then Ukraine will have 1.5million more artillery shells. With many of the Western nations finally waking up and taking this all seriously, production of ammunition will now exceed 2.5million shells this year and rise to over 4million the year after. This is despite having failed to deliver the promised 1million shells in the previous year. Ukraine's own internal munitions and drone manufacturing capacity also continues to grow rapidly with industrial scale production of new generation drones starting up. Under Ukrainian law, the state of Martial Law has to be renewed every 90 days, by Ukraine's parliament. Under Ukrainian law, elections are suspended when under martial law. Parliament has voted to extend the Martial Law very 90 days since the invasion began. Due to the huge amounts of internal and external displacement of the Ukrainian citizenship, a fair election isn't even possible. Straw polls indicate that 80% of Ukraine's citizens do not want an election until the war is over. Zelensky hasn't even said he'll run in the next election.
