You could extend that to the 20 or so SPFL clubs who are part time. They all employ semi professional players whose majority income is from non football employment.

Agreed, yet these clubs have a significant say in the governance model of Scottish football.

Am I right in saying this game was meant to be played between Brora and Camelon on Boxing Day?

Is this the 2nd time it has been called off due to weather conditions?

3rd I think. It’s actually a joke.

just give hearts a bye if the tinpot teams can’t get their act together. A fixture congestion is the last thing we need

Yes, Cumbernauld to Huntly tonight as well

They will be lucky , if Christie Park is anything like the surrounding area itll be like a skating rink. The grass is solid today we had freezing fog this morning and yet all the fences around here were steaming. Its currently freezing and only going to get colder.

I am hearing nobody has yet approached Dunipace committee for use of ground on Saturday.Weather forecast would suggest it will still be unplayable

Just seen an update saying Fauldhouse match v Syngenta on Saturday has switched to Dunipace. 12pm ko. Doesn't leave a lot of time to Covid clean it down before the next game kicks off.

2 big bouts of heavy snow forecast between now and Sunday. This game won’t be played till next midweek unless we let them use Tynecastle or they can find another ground to use for free that has under soil heating. I believe Celtic Park is free this week due to holidays

It’s a fair point though. Surely a heated pitch could be made available for these teams at minimal expense. Hampden even ?

Quite happy with that. Dunfermline league game is more important and we've got time to prepare.

If Camelon v Brora goes ahead on Saturday does the next round not take precedence for next midweek which would mean our league game would be postponed?

It is , indeed , a fair point . Double dunt post though .

SFA should take notice of both points , but they won't

At a time of football making zero money they should be spliting the prize money and doing a draw to see who will play us.

Unlucky with the weather but its becoming a farce now

You're right that the Scottish Cup definitely takes precedence when the tier 5 & 6 teams are having games postponed relentlessly.

In this case though I wonder if it would just be in everyone's interests to schedule this one for two weeks from now as major chance it would just get postponed anyway if scheduled earlier. It could cause more fixture havoc if this jumps the queue due to rearranging league games too.

Esp when we only have very very very limited dates to play games 😉

What's the point in having an arena like the Orium if for games like this it is not used???

I know it will not be a home game, but, with an extended cold snap this game could be weeks before being played?????

SFA should be looking at this type of solution as a priority in times like these!!!!

Huntly won 3-1 last night and there are 3 mins highlights on "Pie & Bovril" showing the plastic pitch was fine. One great goal by Huntly to equalise.

Looking at the weather it may be better to do as Livingston are doing and postpone the match until Sunday

Forecast to get down to -5 Thursday and Friday nights then go back above freezing on Saturday

Morton v Dunfermline likely to be called off tomorrow and rescheduled for Tuesday/Wednesday as cup games take priority so no game for us midweek either by the looks of it. Shambles

Don't know what it's like through there but down here, the forecast claims it won't be above 0 degrees until Saturday evening. Really can't see this going ahead again whether on the 3G or not.

Plenty good pitches out that way that could surely be used? Stenhousemuir is 3G, Livi is too, and neither play on Saturday at their grounds. Surely something is playable. Falkirk, Tynecastle, anything is worth a try.

Morton's pitch unplayable until Tuesday. Morton have several players isolating until Monday. Hmm, what a coincidence

Daft idea but if cup ties are off why don't they bring the league game against Dunfermline forward to Saturday to avoid fixture chaos later

Absolutely no chance of you ever getting a job with the GFA.

Way to sensible.

Camelon v Brora will be off once more and so will Morton v Dunfermline, so no football for a while for us and a nice big fixture pile up in the coming weeks 😀

You would like to think we can reschedule something for Tuesday to be played at Tynecastle but as stated already here common sense doesn't exist in SPFL.

Cameron v Brora expected to be played Monday night and if Camelon go through they hope to face Hearts at Dunipace(Denny)later in the week but if Brora win..............................

Morton Club Statement.   These ******* are at it...

Following on from extensive testing, Greenock Morton can confirm that a further three First-Team players have tested positive for Covid-19.

In accordance with our previous statement and due to medical confidentiality as well as respect for the individuals themselves, the Club will not be naming the players.

The Club has kept both the Scottish Football Association and the Joint Response Group informed of the situation.

Based upon discussions with the SFA today and following the guidance of the Scottish Government’s Clinical Advisor on Covid-19 for Sport, we have ensured that identified members of the squad will be in self-isolation until late evening on Monday, 11th January.

This Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Dunfermline Athletic has already been scheduled for a pitch inspection on the morning of Friday, 8th January at the request of both clubs. The grass has several layers of frost upon it and as it is currently deemed highly unlikely that the fixture will take place on the due date. As a consequence, the match may be re-scheduled for Tuesday, 12th January at 7.45pm replacing the game against Arbroath as Scottish Cup fixtures take precedence over league encounters. This decision was made in complete consultation with Dunfermline Athletic FC and we thank them for their support in the matter.

As the self-isolation period expires later on Monday evening, the entire First-Team squad will be available for selection from that point.

In addition, the Club has been commended by the SFA for its transparency and openness in respect of its response to the Covid-19 situation and for observing the protocols as laid down by the relevant authorities.

In due course, we wish the affected players a speedy recovery and we look forward to welcoming them back to Cappielow Park for competitive football.

Oldham have a frozen pitch and have switched their tie so it will be played at Bournemouth.

How about playing tomorrow instead of Tuesday seeing as both our cup ties are off ?

Makes sense. What is home advantage in the current climate? I understand why Brora would want us to go up there cos it's a hell of a journey, especially midweek, but other than that, there is no benefit to which ground is used.

In the German cup, all the lower league teams have switched their ties to play at the Bundesliga clubs stadiums. Think it's more to assist with Covid-19 protocol, but with no fans at the grounds, the advantages of a home tie are more or less null and void in the current climate, and in fact, the players would probably rather get the experience of playing at some of the better grounds in the country.

Nah. Chill out until Smith is back, Boyce has a chance to rest and we hopefully have couple of new signings including GMS.

I hate games being off but this maybe a blessing in terms of getting players back especially Gino and Marlene and hopefully GMS getting settled in
