Surely we'd want things to stay as they are for the next 3 weeks? Sacking him now could very well give them the so called "new manager bounce" in time for the cup final.

Exactly.  I was hoping he would get sacked after we beat them

Imagine being Doncaster. Went on national radio on Saturday demanding fans get back into stadiums. Then this happens. Brilliant.

Folk might be forgetting as well, these crowds of Celtic fans weren’t at the game. They never just congregated after leaving the stadium. They actually made a conscious decision to leave their homes and travel to Celtic Park to break the law and cause a riot. Husbands, dads, mums. Grown adults 😂

Celtic as we have known them the last decade are finished. Things you love to see.

To react like they did is a complete embarrassment although not surprising.  When will something be done about that section of their so called "fans"? They get away with it all the time. Come to Tynecastle (and other away grounds) cheat their way in, attack staff, destroy seats etc and face no recourse. Only UEFA stands up to the club and even when their club is fined time after time they just carry on acting like arseholes. Surely tougher penalties need enforced by UEFA and the SPFL, League points deductions (dreaming here) and banned from playing in Europe (although they self imposed this already :) ) would stop them I am sure. Last night they probably gave NS all the ammo she needs to tell the SPFL to gtf concerning fan's return to grounds. Scotland's shame.

That being said, keep Lennon he's a top manager, at least until Christmas 🤣

You would think 12 domestic trophies in a row would calm the beans but it's deteriorated to become a battle of bragging rights and goading.  They are desperate for 10 in a row so they can assume a permanent smug look.

The Old Tolbooth

Celtic's fans actions could be wonderful fallout, there's absolutely zero chance of fans being allowed in any time soon, and now all the clubs who voted to suck up their arse for the false promise of league money being paid out just so Celtic could get their grubby paws on their tainted title awarded in a board room amidst total corruption, could very well come back to financially bite them on the arse, it's wonderful! :D

Beautiful to see. Karma has slapped them right in the face.

Amazed Lennon is still there. I thought he would have been gone couple weeks ago but still hanging on. Surely today will be the day.

Yes, it's most edifying to witness. Think it was Tom English who pointed out that the Ceptic support were so obsessed with 10 IAR & that for so long they thought it was going to be a mere formality is the fact that, gloriously, it looks like being snatched away from their self entitled grubby hands at the last hurdle has seen them revert to type, and that is being a rabid hate filled mob.

It's tremendous.

Always wanted him gone from Scottish football, but never in my wildest dreams did I picture him baracaded in the Celtic board room shouting " No Surrender",while it's turned into Game of Thrones in the car park.

Amazing.

Amazing the amount of people who don't know the difference, or for that matter the difference between the Scottish Government and the Scotland Office.

I guess the Celtic players and staff now know what it is like for visiting teams and supporters when they visit Parkhead.

Absolute scum to a man in their support.

Club Statement - weak as anything

https://www.celticfc.com/news/2020/november/Celtic-Football-Club-Statement/

Everyone at the Club is hugely disappointed by this afternoon’s result, one which has ended our phenomenal run of 35 consecutive cup victories.

While we sincerely share the huge disappointment of all Celtic supporters, there can be no excuse for some of the violent scenes at Celtic Park this evening. The Club will be investigating these events fully.

For players and a management team, who have given so much in recent years and have delivered 11 consecutive trophies, to require an escort from Celtic Park while being targeted with missiles, is simply unacceptable.

While we understand that only a small number of people were involved in this behaviour, some of the actions this evening, which have obviously left our own players shaken, cannot be condoned in any way.

FFS...... poor Celtic, only 35 cup victories, I can see how the fans feel let down......scum

I heard one Celtic jakeball say the 'fans deserve better' Seriously just **** off!

Imagine this lot went to England and started getting skelped by the likes of Burnley and West Brom they'd be camped outside the piggery demanding a new manager every week.

Why any manager would want that job this season is beyond me, they're on a hiding to nothing. Last night is just a glimpse of what's to come if that tainted 10th title doesn't arrive.

Haven't they got some insider at UEFA board level (from the Irish Association) looking after them? They've been fined about 12 times or more for various rules infringements while in Europe but the punishments always amounted to a mere slap on the wrist each time.

In general, their reaction last night was totally incredible. These were adults, numbering in the hundreds (one online report suggested thousands?) who managed to get themselves so enraged that they lost any and all sense of reasoning and converged en masse to a closed football stadium during a lockdown that had been enforced to combat a global pandemic. All to rip down barriers and chuck them at a police cordon and hurl insults and missiles at their own players who had to high tail it away from their ground in a speeding convoy.

The reality of it all is nothing short of staggering.

So they sack Lennon:

Who takes over?

Who then has their fingerprints on losing 10 in a Row?

Who do they panic buy in the transfer window to make it all stop?

Who would come to a club having seen the scenes last night?

Rangers seem to always collapse after the winter break, but I can't see it this year, win the next Old Firm and it's game over for me.

As painful as it is to admit theres a really good post on .nugget that pretty much nails it...

NAE NOOKIE 01:32 AM Today
Social media is all over this.

They have no idea, absolutely none, of the reality of supporting your team for 99% of the worlds football fans, never mind Scotland's.

Put it this way, I attended my first Hibs match in 1975, in that time we have won 3 ( three ) trophies and been relegated 3 times. A Celtic fan who saw his first match in 1975 will have seen his team win 50 ( fifty ) trophies, 22 of them league titles and will never, not once, have got out of bed on the first day of the season and had to wonder if they would get relegated .... not just never experienced relegation, or even a relegation battle ....... but not even had to contemplate the possibility of it.

Expecting success is one thing. But this is a fanbase who have seen their club win every domestic trophy for three seasons, to react like this after being knocked out of a competition they had no realistic chance of winning followed by a defeat in the country's 3rd most important competition is a massive over reaction which stinks of arrogant self entitlement, not passion, just pure unadulterated arrogant self entitlement.

They haven't got a bloody clue and if proof was required that the self titled 'best fans in the world' wouldn't last three seasons following Dundee, Motherwell, Kilmarnock or even Hibs last night's piss poor effort is all the proof anybody needs.

Excellent post (despite the source). And, remember when sevco were in the lower leagues celtc attendances plummeted, to the extent the top tier was often closed off altogether.

Should have mentioned in my OP, but aye I would love for him to stay and for the final nail in the coffin to be us beating them at Hampden, but I don't think he'll get that much time. I think he simply has to go after last night, and that the club don't really have a choice at this stage in the season. They need to act now, and give the new manager a bit of time to assess the team and to do some wheeling and dealing in the January transfer window. He's an absolute fraud and has been found out.

As the SFA/ Weegie polis wont want a repeat of these scenes on 20th December, I suspect any slim chance of us beating Cellic has sadly just vanished.

We will be shafted by any means possible to avoid further damage to the (ahem) good name of Scottish football.

Just catching up with this.

The biggest surprise for me is none of the players walk to the ground.

This was like the worst of South America or Italy.

Brilliant. (though like others still spoiled by the Alloa performance)

On Saturday at the Doncaster/ Cormack Sportsound Tom English pressed Doncaster on letting fans back in Glasgow. He deflected it and started talking about Inverness.

Not good for Celtic or Doncaster.

Meltdown cause they’ve chucked 10 in a row.

Glorious.

They haven’t chucked that yet. Rangers have history for meltdown after Christmas.

If they sack Lennon soon (might be more difficult after yesterday’s scenes) and hire Martin O’Neil or Strachen (if they would even go after yesterday) then they still have a chance.

I hate Rangers but hope they go on and win the league now. The Celtic fans are a complete and utter embarrassment to football. That reaction yesterday is nothing short of self entitled, deluded and down right selfish. Not content on winning absolutely everything for the past 9 years and finally having a team that can put a challenge in.

They are more vile than rangers and that's saying something.

I await Phil Mac Gobbledook's blog about how DA ORANGE-BIASED PLEECE SCOTLAND discriminated against fans of the Irish Club by getting stuff chucked at them for protecting the club's players and officials and then not arresting anyone for it.

One of the suggestions for letting limited number of fans in to grounds like Celtic Park is priority to fans who live locally.

Might need to rethink that.
