Newcastle can change their manager. Not sure it will help with this squad. 13 more league games before transfer window.

They do play Norwich and Burnley at home in 4 days early December.

Currently big danger of relegation.

Think Arsenal got a good deal with Willock.

He had a purple patch last season on loan and that probably put £10 million pounds on his fee

Needless from Shelvey - if Spurs get a 4th so be it - makes very little difference in the grand scheme of things

Newcastle have no shape to their play

It wouldn't be the worse idea to get a squad of free agents in next week.

I had previously thought they had something but not after that.

They've been looking at them for 4 years - I think they know it's going to take time - they've said as much.

First thing they have to do is get rid of Bruce.

Get a big name manager in and take it from there

NUFC  are probably 20 years behind they're rivals.

Ground, academy, facilities  the whole shooting match. Miles behind.

They'll struggle to attract the top names to the North East too.

And Bruce has been a major reason for it. Defensively the players are very poor but offensively they have a group who would walk into top 10 teams.

A whole new defence is required in the winter window.

That's why the need a big name manager.

Keegan could sell ice to the Eskimos - They need someone like him in who players want to play for

Would be beautiful if they appointed Slipper G and went down. Hope every team skelps them before murderer Bin Salman's billions can be brought to bear.

what the new owners should do is build a training centre somewhere in say surrey, thus those big names can live down south and only travel to newcastle for matchdays, it is similar to what anzhi makhachkala did a few years ago before their rich owners got bored with them. or even have a private jet ready to take the players to and from training. the private plane would be poor for CO2 emissions.

They have not won the league in just under a hundred years. The FA Cup in over 60 years. They have never won the League Cup ever.Their league attendances were in some cases under 10,000 pre Keegan days.😄

Is it just me that doesn’t buy the whole Saudi Newcastle takeover. Not convinced why they were the club they wanted and that will invest enough to actually challenge. When Man City were taken over by Abu Dhabi they had a decent team and foundation but stil took them years

What a joke MOTD2 is. Soucek takes a non accidental kick in the head that splits his cheek open and they don't even show it. They were too embarrassed to even mention the lad was taken off injured.

Let's just blow Declan Rice again and pretend this didn't happen

Took them 3 seasons to win FA Cup.Then League season after.

Thaksin Shinawatra invested a fair amount before take over.

Hughes made a couple of great signings in Tevez and Barry and some dreadful ones as well.

Mancini took over and signed YaYa and Silva for a combined fee of just under 60 million.Balotelli for 22 million then got Joe Hart back from loan and won the FA Cup.

Signed Aguero for 35 million and Nasri for 25 million, won the league next season.

Just under 145 million for the 5 players.No idea what it would take now.

Pretty sure they're aware it'll take years to get them moving forward. They were still going to buy them even if Newcastle were relegated.

Man City had some decent players when they were officially taken over.

Not one player in that Newcastle team is close to being what they need to challenge further up the table.

Exactly! They can approach whoever and afford whoever but are they willing to come in and work with this squad of players 2 months before the transfer window opens ? And at that the reports are Newcastle are getting 50M in January to spend. It’s a hard window to bring players in.

I thought the new owners would of had their man waiting and when the take over was complete the new manager would take over at the same time like Robbie done when Budge took over.

Rodgers has already rejected it ruled himself out . Will they bring in a manager out of work to save them from relegation then sack him in the summer when they survive and want to spend big so go and get a bigger name?

The names out there are not game changers Eddie Howe relegated with Bournemouth, Chris Wilder relegated with Sheffield United, Frank Lampard ?

I still think Roberto Martinez would be a good shout for them.

It was never a case of it happening overnight.

The club was neglected in all areas for 14 years by the previous owner but he made sure his pockets were full year in year out.

The process really needs to start with getting somebody better than Bruce in. The Newcastle players looked like they were schoolkids in the playground yesterday. You have to wonder what they work on with Bruce. The defending was abysmal and all over the place and I wouldn't say Spurs are the best team in the league but way ahead of Newcastle on that showing.

What gets me about failures like Steve Bruce is he keeps saying he wants what's best for the club.

If he did, he would walk away with nothing, like Strachan did at Middlesbrough.

You can tell he's had enough but £8 million pounds is waiting for him

McCarthy at Cardiff is another one. Just admit you've not been good enough at your job and therefore don't deserve a substantial pay out

It's time football managers have something written in their contract saying if results have not been good enough they can be sacked without compensation or at best a performance related settlement

You wouldn't walk away from £8m when your bosses spend that on a decent cigar. If the club was in liquidation then yeah, walk away.

Difficuklt to remember the last time any manager resigned rather than wait to be sacked. I expect 'resignation' usually means 'negotiating a pay off' anyway.

Bruce is a dreadful manager imo. 1000 games and not a single trophy or league win at any level and even his demeanour sounds defeated. Fat Sam is the same but at least he knows how to organise a team.

Considering how many applications a Head Coach job generates then it is clear that the employer has the upper hand and should be able to negotiate somethng into the contract to say "If in relegation zone after 19 games, contract will be terminated with x payment" etc etc

What I'm saying is why trot out the line that he wants what's best for the club ?

If he genuinely wanted that he'd walk away with nothing.

Not a case of blaming him for holding out but spare people the crap.

I know the doctor is getting the praise but there were a lot of other factors that saved the man's life. Quick actions by the fans, the St John's Ambulance crew and thank God for the defibrillator

I was at the game yesterday, and it was weird, you could tell something serious was going on right away with the crowd reaction.  Actually thought it a bit odd to shout the Newcastle physio over when surely the paramedics etc had that equipment? But I guess you can't have enough help, glad the guy is ok.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Few spare seats but no doubt the attendance will be given as 60,000 plus as usual for The Emirates
