the playoff structure is different for the lower leagues. 2nd bottom play 4th in league below and 2nd v 3rd from the league below, then the winner of those ties play in the final with the winner claiming the place in the higher league

League 2 and 1 promotion: top team promoted, 4th placed team plays 2nd bottom of league above. winner plays winner of 2nd and 3rd for promotion. 

 

Promotion from championship different to give 2nd bottom team in Premier league a better chance of staying up.

Did ICT put another player back on? You’re entitled to another sub in ET but they’d used up their 3 individual stoppages when Sutherland went off in normal time so they’d effectively be bringing a player on for nobody

Absolutely, it's geared towards giving second bottom in the Premiership as much advantage as possible.  Doesn't always work though, as Hibs managed to prove.  Another first for them to add to their long list of firsts.  First top flight club to be relegated via the play-offs.

He's on for the player who went of injured in regulation time.
