The Wedding Present are simply superb.. Seen multiple times and met Dave Gedge on a couple of occasions, sadly can't make this gig as watching Hearts getting pumped.

Saw them twice in Kalamazoo, in 2005 and 2006 I think, at a tiny brewery that only held a couple of hundred people. Brilliant.

Agreed, really good read. She comes across as a bit of b*tch at times, but it's one of the best music based autobiographies I've read for a while.

Hopefully Emma Anderson comes up here for a gig, her new album is just brilliant.

It's almost a year since 'Pearlies' came out and still no live dates!

Have you saw that there is a 'remix' version of Pearlies coming out this month?

Squeeze at The Usher Hall next week.

Cracking band.

Seen Glen Tilbrook at a hotel in Aberdour a couple of years ago, a top night and very reasonable

A few tribute acts with the kids:

Springsteen Sessioners (Haddington)

Across the Universe (Queens Hall)

Fleeting Rumours (Peebles theatre)

Bootleg Beatles (Usher Hall)

Queen Etravaganza (Playhouse)

Chicago Blues Brothers (Usher Hall)

And a couple of original acts

Jason Isbell (Usher Hall)

Bruce Springsteen (Anfield)

My kids love music but not "modern" bands. Makes it hard to get them to gigs as my daughter is 9. Most venues are 14 plus. Trying to get then to listen to other bands that they might get a chance of seeing live.

Got a spare ticket for the blue man group on Friday at the festival theatre going on the recommendation of my pal who says its the best gig he's ever seen! Don't want anything for it just don't want it to go to waste.

Squeeze tonight. Not seen them since 1983.

Well pissed off I didn’t notice they were playing only to find out it’s sold out ages ago.

And they were very good, but they get bigger every time I see them, eight of them tonight.

Yip, that's 'modern' bands for you. Very few have the confidence to perform as a trio or quartet anymore. All about trying to recreate the studio sound.

The Wedding Present were brilliant. I saw them touring Bizarro at the Queen's Hall in 1989. Miki Berinyi was good, too. An excellent gig.

The Pretenders next Wednesday at The Usher Hall a week after seeing Squeeze at the same venue

Rolling back the years or decades might be more appropriate 🙄.

Or The Maytals these days.

True, feel it's a bit of a con including his name but his daughter is singer for them and I think there's 3 original members left so least it wont seem more like a tribute act.

Hi Everyone

My mates laddie is doing a project at uni on the Edinburgh music scene. He's a good kid, and a Hearts season ticket holder to boot. Hoping if you can spare a couple of minutes, you could maybe fill in a wee survey for him. It's very short.

Cheers

Going to see Talon ( eagles tribute band) tomorrow night at Haddington Corn Exchange. Might be a bit tricky getting back from Tynecastle in time for a 7:30 start.

Update on the Talon gig at Haddington, absolutely fabulous gig, musicianship & harmonies outstanding . Rather an older audience demographic, I hit seventy next month, but some a lot older than me there everyone went home happy.

I got to the gig in plenty of time because I missed the game on Saturday as my wee sister was admitted to Intensive care at Forth Valley hospital. She's still there  on oxygen, and improving slowly.

Glad it was a good one and hope your sister makes a good recovery.

I miss walking to the Brunton to see a live band, could obviously drive to Haddington but it would mean soft drinks only. 🍻

I should add, the Tom Petty tribute was excellent, definitely worth catching them if you get the chance.

To add to the chat about the Brunton (def looks like it is being demolished). Went to my first gig at Haddington last night and the venue isnt a patch on the Brunton.

Went with my kids to see a Bruce Springsteen tribute act and the attendance was down by over 30% on the normal numbers they would get at the Brunton. Haddington isnt as easy to get to as Musselburgh for folk in Edinburgh and Midlothian and from chatting to staff last night, it doesnt sound like many locals are attending events.

It is a shame as the Brunton was easy to get to and often had family friendly gigs.

Our next gigs are next weekend. Heidi Talbot & Boo Hewardine at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles on Friday and Sunday we are seeing Across the Universe at the Queens Hall. Looking forward to both.

Was hoping to go to SLF at The Barras St Paddy's Day 2025 but tickets were sold out about 10 mins after they went on sale 😢.  Now hoping for a resale to pop up. Highly unlikely.
