Latest figures I could find is average annual EU consumption of pure alcohol 11.4. litres per person in EU, 11.3 litres in UK., Germany is one of the many European nations that consumes more than the UK. File with the myth that alcohol consumption is growing … it has been declining for a decade or more, particularly among the young.

Health is an issue and the UK is certainly the fat man of Europe but it doesn't explain the very wide differences between countries with similar lifestyles and levels of health..

Very surprised at that. Suppose it’s obesity that’s more a problem than drinking itself.

It's not too bad, Nucky. I'm half way through filling my second skip of the week.

Digging out driveways by hand is tough going but the drizzle is softening up the clay a bit.

Grafting on my own manor, Nucky.

If I was on an hourly rate I'd be reclining on the sofa with my feet up. 👍

The Mighty Thor

There's a right rammy brewing in Englandshire over testing and the reporting of 'pillar 2' community based testing.

Apparently Deloittes, yip the same mob that did the SPFL investigation, have not been sharing the local test data from the private testing facilities they run with Public Health England or the NHS or the local  authority in that area.

Apparently they're not obliged to share the data due to their contract terms.

Andy Burnham, mayor of Manchester, claims that the current number of infected people could be 6 times higher than he is being advised from the pillar 1 - hospital tested data.

Sounds like a bit of a farce.

Also perhaps surprisingly the UK has the second lowest smoking rate in Europe - only Sweden is lower.

Diet and obesity is our weakness … but the healthy Mediterranean diet didn't help Spain and Italy much.

Barnsley council are asking people to exercise extra care & vigilance in the town, due to an increase of Covid-19 cases.

And all the pubs open up on Saturday in England...............................what possibly could go wrong.

There is a famous cake making firm there, which I won't name as it would be unfair to speculate but could it be like the Welsh cases in food processing plants leading to a local spike perhaps?

Britain announces 176 more Covid-19 deaths as government experts estimate up to 3,000 people are still catching the virus each day in England but the R rate has DROPPED in every region.

176 and 3000 are numbers that are still to high.

Spain and Italy were affected by different issues than we were. Mainly an especially elderly population in Italy’s case and the extended family which is still a big thing in those countries. Not to mention dreadful pollution in northern Italy in particular  being the worst in Europe which had been weakening the respiratory systems of the people who live there for years.

It's about time Sturgeon stopped the daily briefings.

She goes over the same condescending shit about wearing masks and how we're not over the virus.

It would be easy enough to just tweet the daily figures

Here's an idea, don't watch the briefing and just check the daily tweeted figures. 🧐
