And the twits that refuse to wear a mask at games will be first to moan about it no doubt

It’s not nice calling other hearts fans twits really ? Is it ? I know it’s not a highly offensive word but some delicate flowers on this may be offended

I'd suggest that the removal of such folks from general circulation is one of the positives of the pandemic.

Maybe they're just bored sad acts playing a part on the Internet where they act out one extreme behaviour of the pandemic response to get as much attention as possible?

Like you.

Ok, just felt the urge to point that out for some reason. I remember they did drag their heels over it though.

Are they? Maybe they're exempt. Quite an assumption to make.

Good to know though that the rules are the only barometer of whether something is sensible or not. I'd highly advise everyone to continue socialising, attending your parties and funding the economy...it's not against the rules after all.

Dennis - this isn't really aimed at you, I've enjoyed your posts on here and like your debating style...the morning troll is the real target (and I shouldn't really have risen to it)

They did but that suited them, especially Celtic, it doesn’t this time as they’ve only played each other once and the JRG can try and pressurise the SG to hold off.
Celtic players celebrating with fans last night wouldn’t have helped surely?

No worries, I am not here to defend him.

The ones in the stadium are too many to be exempt, and I think most who are exempt now have bothered to get the lanyard to save them any hassle. I can't prove that however.

I hate wearing masks so it is a bit of a trigger for me when i see folk that can't be arsed to, I get that it has been away for while in England so must be worse having to go backwards.

My dad called me to say he's tested positive this morning. That was after my sisters two youngest tested positive at the weekend. I'm now shiting it as I was with them all at the weekend. I really cannot be arsed with ten days in the house.

I've not been to Tynecastle since the pandemic began so I can't comment on the numbers but I was absolutely being flippant and completely agree with you given what I've heard. That said, given there was little divergence in success (pre-omicron) in the period from July - December and we're all (UK) now staring down the barrel of a lockdown again anyway, I would argue that the rule for mask wearing at football was unnecessary but that's a different argument and wasn't the intention of my post really.

My nose was out of joint about it, for that very reason. I'd got used to not wearing it anymore and didn't have them anymore. I'm absolutely against it, but I wear them again now where required but do try and avoid those situations.

Just been skimming the early pages of this monster thread and what is clear to see is the change in attitudes as a percentage.  Early doors it was about 90% hook line and sinker and 10% of those who questioned everything.  Now I would say it is 40/60 (with more poeple starting to say 'what a minute').

A poll of some sort would be quite interesting imo as would probably reflect society as a whole.  It is not a football poll so no bias (being a football forum for a particular team) and I imagine we all represent many different types of backgrounds, social class, education and lifestyles.

I have been of the same opinion since day one where I think it is nowehere near the mass hysteria scale that is represented by media and government.  I think it is not nothing but the way it is portrayed and conveyed is mythical.

It would be interesting to also know who have changed their stance on it since the early days either swaying to the 'run for your life' side or the 'poo poo' side.

almost 35k posts and you don't value this enough to chuck in a fiver? 🤣

I think the lack of masks on match day tells the story of the level of risk most working class (mainly fit men) associate with this so called pandemic, I find it's mostly the working from home brigade who are scared and crave for more restrictions.

Ridiculous

you only have to look at match days at tynecastle - when Scott Wilson says over the tannoy to please wear your mask when moving around the stadium, yet hardly anyone has the decency to wear one - absolutely shocking and the government officials are now aware of this

Government officials are aware that Hearts supporters aren't wearing masks when at Tynecastle. How are they aware?

Is it just Tynecastle it's happening at, or all grounds?

Are they checking everywhere?

Not saying a mask is too much too ask of people, but interested how you jump to government awareness.

Why do you think people are refusing to wear them?

Because they don’t like any type of authority - want to act like idiots and don’t care about others

Mask wearing at football grounds is as ****ed up as anything introduced.
Wear a mask when moving around but not when you are at your seat, surrounded by many people, all mask less, shouting, singing, coughing and generally doing things that football fans do.
People ask why there is a lack of masks at Tynecastle ?

Because it makes no sense, that’s why.

Either masks for the duration of your visit or not at all.

Fat chance of that mind. Remember the nightclub mask rules when they came out ? No mask when dancing but have to put one on when going to the bog !
