blast..caught out by a mathematician !!

Some bookmakers will have 5+ goals as a bet and others use over 4.5. Same difference really. I fancy us to score a few today ... good bet!

Never quite got why they do the stupid thing of over 4.5 goals

It's 4 or 5 and if you are betting over 4.5 it's 5 !!!

i imagine it is so they have an over and under option with the same number of goals option. what i mean is in your example over/under 4.5 goals means a 4 or less or 5 or more goals in a game as we agree on. if they had the same for the same result the bets would be over 4 and under 5 because of they had over 4 and under four, exactly 4 goals scored would be a losing bet for both

Be a tough game I think.

I'd like Washington to score.

2-0 us.

I also predict Shankland to score v hibs and this place to go tonto.

Ive done Hearts -2 and Dundee United to win. 9/1 yer money ...

Vague recollections of a 9 in a Hibs European game?

Meshino can’t be dropped after the Aberdeen game. I’d have him In there instead of Walker.

One will replace the other from the bench I would think. Walker doesn't have 90 minutes in his tank even when fully fit.

they actually had a 7-0 home defeat and a 2-0 away defeat to give an aggregate score of 9-0

Doesn't matter how we do it.

Just win it.

:spoton: if we win it with style and by a good margin all the better. but the main thing to do is get the win

Has Walker been mentioned much other than DS saying he has more goals in him?? Interesting to see how far DS will push walker fitness wise, can only be good for us to have a fitter walker.

Going by the training videos, Stendel will want us flying out of the traps. A early goal or 2 will bury these dirty Ian Murray feckers.

That's what I'm hoping.

Slightly concerned that Airdrie will know exactly what to expect, we might be vulnerable to a quick ball over the top on the counter if they have anybody with pace.

The boss was in good form over breakfast this morning at Dalmahoy. Confident about getting a result but all about the right attitude from the players.

"Over 5 goals" could be interpreted as 5+ or 6+. "Over 4.5 goals" is unambiguous.

At least it's not the 90s, airdrie ain't our boogie team anymore. My line up prediction:

El Cato

Clare, halkett, soutter, hickey.

Smith, irvine.

Cochrane, Naismith, meshino.

Washington.

Played last night so if we got him he'd be cup tied.

Maybe he's just there with mates who are Airdrie fans? 😕

I've come up from Portsmouth for this and can't bloody wait. I only really get to come back to Edinburgh in the summer when there's no football. I'm buzzing already. Come on Hearts!!!

Good money is on a draw with Utd.

Robbie likes a money spinning replay.

Even if they are winning he'll tell his players to sit back and chuck it.

Am a' right?

Airdrie are League 1 minnows.  They will be no match for us and from today onwards, our season will kick on, I feel it.  If we play like we did in the draw against Aberdeen we should blow them away. Yes I am a happy clapper 😁

Hearts don't tend to produce big wins in the early rounds of the Scottish Cup. Had a look back at results on London Hearts and we've only won by more than 2 goals (or over 2.5 or Hearts -2 for those caught up in the betting chat) seven times in the last 20 years. That has included two semifinals and a final (so Hibs twice haha) as well as 3-0 against Aberdeen and St Johnstone and 4-0 against Auchinlek and Stranraer.

Given our issues in front of goal before the winter break my head says tight win for us, my heart says that the new improved post-break Hearts will steamroller then for our biggest cup win of the century.

Not much at all but then he is not long back from another injury.

It will be interesting to see how hard he works when he plays as I don't think DS will put up with any slackers.

1-1

I think we might be underestimating Airdrie. I'd go with the following lineup:

                  Pereira

Clare     Souttar       Dikamona      Hickey

  Meshino    Smith        Irving        Henderson

                Washington    Naismith

Do you want to give us an insight into how you come up with that score?

Struggling to see what points to a draw unless.........  oh wait, you assured us you were an aging Hearts supporter.

Reckon it'll be around 14-15k in total, Airdrie bringing just shy of 2000 I think

We have lost 4 and drawn 1 under Stendel. Not exactly the most inspiring form to go into any match and we remain bottom of the league and 5 points adrift. Many thought we'd beat St Johnstone at home and Hamilton away. Look how that panned out.

The Scottish Cup is an opportunity for smaller sides to test themselves against better opposition. Airdrie are only 2 points off top spot in their league and have a competent manager in Ian Murray. Not my problem if you don't like my prediction.
