Genuinely glad we are not signing Whelan

Do you know if we actually were? Any news on any others?

It came as a surprise to me tbh - only person I was told about was the boy from Cardiff. Text on Monday to say we had moved to other targets???? No idea who though - sorry

Neil Strevens

I watch Villa a fair bit as well as Hearts and Glenn Whelan was superb in the second half of last season.

Including a young Michael Stewart??

Drew Busby two to the right of Stewart.  Brian Whittaker above Stewart.   Iain Jardine to the right of Busby.

Whelan played 38 games for Aston Villa last season and played 90 minutes in two of Ireland's last three games. He might be 35 but he's still clearly rated at a decent level. I'd far rather we signed an attacking midfielder than a defensive one, but you could also argue we lack leadership in the middle of the park.

We'd need another midfielder as well, but I think he'd be a good signing to be honest.

Maybe we're just signing a beard, without the player attached. It could run around the pitch undetected, play in several positions, score a few goals, maybe not.........it's a hairy idea.

His funeral service took place at noon. Easy to remember because the big hand and the little hand were together.

There was no lavish catering at Jeremy's funeral. Just a small finger buffet.

Captain Canada

Who'd want Whelan when we have Bozanic and Irving?

I'll settle for Naismith, Morrison and Paul Gladon (Dutch striker).

David Meyler just announced he is leaving reading and excited about his new challenge. Ticks most of the boxes international midfielder, no one knew he was available and strong beard.

Doubt it, Zlamal has got big gloves to fill and I'm not sure Jeremy Beadle is up to the task.

He was good at pawing the ball away from danger

Apologies for the Joe Ledley info if it doesn’t happen. As I said all I got told was a British international footballer who was looking to get back to the national side and putting things together I come up with Ledley seeing as he was a free agent. Other posters have pretty much confirmed it’s Whelan which would fit into this category too.

Fingers crossed as I think he’d be a great addition in the mould of Naismith. Huge will to win and has plenty experience of playing at the highest level down south

Ledleys agent is from Edinburgh.  Same guy who looks after Lee Wallace and Liam Kelly.  He’s a close friend of a work colleague.  Hearts have spoken to him about Ledley but he isn’t first choice.  No idea who is.

Pleased like, Ledley was quality and to have played at such a high level will only be a good thing (hopefully means he realises the work doesn't begin and end in Glasgow so can encourage the youngsters to try England)

Spooky! I'm watching Elementary as I catch up on this thread!

The sad thing is that's the sort of quality/quantity we need to sign to sort this squad out.

A pipedream.

Lafferty and Cummings???

Naismith is a Hearts player...🙈

Morrison and Damour shall we put ourselves in debt to get them in by breaking our wage structure because we can’t offer enough?

Gordon is under contract for another year at Celtic

Ledley another one who might be a good signing and of the players above everyone has either approached us or we have had some form of contact with. Pipedreams indeed!!
