There's a real want about adults who wear football tops to the football, even more so when they're not there.

I'm sure my opinion won't temper their chubbies for football tops, Sarah.

Ok, anyone who goes to the football in gear you see bairns in has a want about them. Usually they’re fat slobs with Adidas sambas on and eating a king rib supper with half of it over their face and football top.

Imagine wearing a football top to a football game, eh?

Utter madness.

A bit daft if you're not playing.

Why stop at a top though?  Surely the prevailing logic follows you should be sitting there with the full gear on, boots and all.

Not really.

A football top is your team colours. It makes sense to fire one on, and head to the game to support your team.

It's only a multi billion pound industry though, so we must be the weird ones right enough.

The shorts and socks are also the team colours so why not wear them?

You could get customised boots to wear.

Lets be honest if you go to pictures to see Star Wars and next to you is a big fat guy munching on pies and wearing a copy of Princess Leia's Golden bikini, whilst dribbling grease and bovril down his cleavage, you're going to think 'thats a bit odd'.

But as Star Wars memorabillia is a multi billion pound industry I guess thats normal.

Every adult that pumps that extra £50 into Hearts by buying a replica shirt is a weirdo like.

We should shut off that revenue stream.

Why should we do that?

You seem to have an issue with Hearts supporters buying and wearing Hearts tops at games.

Bit odd for you to care what other men are wearing at a football match.

The only person mentioning Hearts supporters is you.

You're arguing with yourself here.

I like my men in gold bikinis.

No, you mentioned football tops at football matches.

And since Hearts are a football team that play football matches, I put the two of them together.

Pretty sure if there was no demand for Adult football tops they wouldn't make them.

We have this argument every six months or so. ?

I tend to not wear a Hearts top at matches but looking forward to wearing some of my collection on holiday next month.

Phil you really are making things up here. I'm pretty sure I havent mentioned football matches at all.

You're losing an argument with yourself here.

If you're an adult and want to go dressed up as a football player then fine, crack on but do it right. Go the whole hog and dont give a toss what other think.

Its just a bit odd to some people.

I only ever wear a top on European adventures but certainly don't have a problem with any grown man that does.

Always avoid the rangers and Celtic family's on holiday though wearing the full strip to go out for tea

Phil that quote that you have desperately, and rather disengenuosly, used out of context, was in response to someone who did mention a game.

I havent.

Except in your mind.

Maroon Sailor

11. Hearts 1972 - 1973

HIT: It takes a lot to break with tradition. Other than a hooped shirt for away games in the late 20s, and one with white sleeves for floodlit matches from 1957 to ‘59, Heart of Midlothian had struck to the tried and tested (and loved) maroon jerseys.

It was going to take something special to break that love affair, and this was it.

Now, while a great many Jambos go all misty-eyed when recalling this kit today (and hence why it features so high in this list), it took a bit of getting used to at the time. “Was it not too Hibsy?” was a question asked.

The answer was no, more Ajaxy!

The Hearts even went as far as copying the style of socks Ajax wore, with the coloured tops. And what we had was a classic kit.

Hearts didn’t win anything of significance wearing it, only the hearts of their fans.

So stepping away from the bickering for a minute if you round up all the recent rumours there will be a new strip announced on Sunday that will go on sale to the public on Thursday? There are loads of them at Tynecastle waiting to go on sale and they were doing photos in a dressing room this week?

I'd like to see more white in the home kit just for a change and as King Willie Bauld shows it's been done before with the kits (I know they're not the home kits)

Are you in the 'Heart of Midlothian Football Shirt Collectors' facebook group?

I was after a 95-97 adults medium home kit and some of the folks there helped me acquire that which had eluded me for so long.

Not sure what having a “want about them”means but I assume it’s a derogatory thing. Millions and millions of football fans all over the world must have this same “want about them”. Personally I wear a Hearts top with pride when on holiday, sometimes when out running and very occassionally to a game if I don’t need to worry about getting into the pub. I feel it helps me connect with,  identify with and support the club I love and the other fans who feel the same.

Exactly.

I wear mine to the gym, to 5's, and I'll also wear one to the game at the weekends. I am neither a fat slob, nor have I ever had a King Rib Supper in my life.

It's an odd view to take that everyone who wears a football top "has a want about them" whatever the **** that means.

I'll happily spend £200 in the club shop, and then wear that stuff wherever the **** I like. I might start wearing them more knowing that it reduces other people to foaming piles of seethe, coming up with daft scenarios to make themselves feel superior.

I must admit to having a pair of Adidas Sambas though

So he is wearing a top that was over 20 years old? It must be a strip from another one off game I'd say as the Hearts hooped top was from the late twenties.
