New Stand: Ongoing work (updated)

Resurfacing the road a couple of days before we bring a couple of monster cranes down it. Yip, that makes sense .. :uhoh2:

That was my thoughts also.

Let's re-surface Mcleod Street just before it has full on construction traffic for at least a year! That's the council for you (unless they're worried the existing surface isn't up to all the said traffic?)

Thank you for the offer. I may take you up on that when we get fresh pics!

So far we have permission from:

kila

Footballfirst

Dannie Boy

Mr Sifter

I'm putting the list here to remind myself as much as anything else...

We've had lots of new joiners, hopefully that'll lead to more pics being posted as well!

Why just joiners? Brickies can take photos too.  ;)

How do they plan on us entering the Main stand tomorrow? Are we walking through the truss?! Or around it?

http://www.heartsfc.co.uk/news/5719

Due to the ongoing re-development works at Tynecastle and the associated changes to some points of access and egress, fans seated in the Main Stand are asked to come earlier than usual to the game on Wednesday evening to minimise queueing.

New routes from McLeod Street have been prepared for access to the Main Stand turnstiles and this will enable fans to become familiar with the new arrangements needed as the new stand development continues.

Fans seated elsewhere in the stadium are also asked to take the most direct exit route from the stadium. One of the prime considerations over the next few games will be to reduce the number of spectators exiting directly onto McLeod Street.

We very much appreciate your co-operation and thank you all for your understanding in advance.

Even with a lower crowd it was pretty busy and congested after the Raith game when we had the same arrangements.

The Club have asked fans to get there early and show some patience.

And leave at own exit ie Wheatfield and Gorgie and not walk round to McLeod Street

No chance !!

It's the most direct route from the Wheatfield to the Tynie Arms

Seen what is obviously going to be the roof of the new stand. The big white section along the top of the other stand today.

This. I don't log on here to read things. I log on here to see things. JKB losing the plot on this thread lately. Someone needs to get the finger out and get their @$$ down there and stop being so selfish. :)

Impressive! Is it still getting lifted tomorrow (depending on wind/weather)? I'd imagine we need another big crane coming tomorrow as well.

Is it Tesco.  I'm sure I read on partplanners it was flats.

Trust them to get it wrong.

Looking pretty great regardless.

Wind forecast for tomorrow??

Due to be about 25mph. Cranes can't operate if the wind is more than 19mph. The daily cost for having the cranes on site is astronomical so fingers crossed it's done and dusted by tomorrow.

Not too bad until the afternoon, hopefully they get up and get it done early in the day

Prep work for the cranes starts right after the final whistle tonight. They're currently on the outskirts of Edinburgh and should be on site tomorrow around 7am. The lift should start around 10am, all being well.

Mad. Guy welding it as we speak. Also guy in the crane aswell. Must be paying these guys overtime.

Yup, actually parked up the other night whilst supposedly meant to be working and sat watching them for ages welding away. Did get a couple of weird looks from passers by.

People leaving the Main Stand were very patient tonight. Well done to all appreciating the tight exit.

Felt like we were a bunch of penguins, all waddling slowly out toe to toe, mesmerised by witnessing a 4-1 thrashing while sparks fly on the end of the truss as they continue working away

Just passed down McLeod St and got a quick word with two of the boys working for the crane company (Mammoet). They confirmed it won't take them long to 'rig' the crane up, then we should be fine for the lunch time lift. Good to see them oot graftin early doors!!

...I was actually a right sad git and googled "Mammoet" in a bid to try and see the crane they'd be using...but they've got four or five different types. So that was that...

Ahhhhhhh what a lovely feeling - today is going to be a good day.

Basking in the glory of a demolition of The Rangers whilst salivating over the prospect of the mighty truss being hoisted in to its new home looking down over the hallowed turf.

As far as Thursdays go, this one ranks pretty highly!
