Dusk_Till_Dawn
I’ve taken the plunge and started A Little Life. 100 pages in and I’m not sure tbh. Seems pretentious as ****
Dusk_Till_Dawn
A book I would recommend though - the art of fielding. Baseball. Strangely compelling

Bordeaux 03
I know they read in it school these days but I just finished Animal Farm. Very clever in the way it was written and quite thought provoking.
Auld Reekin'
RIP Milan Kundera. I really enjoyed The Incredible Lightness of Being in particular - less so some of his other books - but, anyway, he was a very talented and acclaimed writer. dougal
I don't tend to say anything about the books I read but this book is very different to the books I normally read and I have to say it was excellent. One of the best books I've read in ages. There is a Tom Hanks film based on it, A Man Called Otto. Do yourselves a favour and read the book. It is far superior to the film. Finished the book yesterday and watched the film last night. Night and day in terms of comparison. If anyone thinks the film looks like their cup of tea, then read the book first. Ulysses
Bought this, and about to read it. It's a book of the main stories of An Ruraíocht, or in English The Ulster Cycle. Full of heroes, kings, queens, fairies, warfare and magic, it's one of the two most important set of stories in Irish mythology, and mainly set in East Ulster and North Leinster (my native territory, in other words). I read the Cycle in English in my teenage years, but it's time for me to read it in its original language. I may be some time.

Daktari
Oddly after all these years, 'The Godfather' by Mario Puzo. I've seen all three films more than I can count and probably always avoided reading the book for that reason, but I'm really enjoying it. So much more to it than the film, which is often the way.
