Toto Update

Let me give you a few of examples. Jose Quitongo. Ricardo Fuller. Rudi Skacel. Juanjo. All players plucked from relative obscurity who, to varying degrees, got us on the edge of our seats and entertained us. I realise that we've also had our fair share of Eskillson's, Mo Berthe's & Fitzroy Simpson's, but it's the not knowing that makes this signing such a tantalising prospect! Could he cut it at SPL level? Who knows, but I'd love to see him try....

thanks for setting me straight i`m totally buzzin` off it now.

Skacel's left boot

Toto signed today. We paid ?4.5 million to each of the 7000 clubs he's played for in the past 6 months, and he's on ?125k per week.

get in!

p.s. I got that info from his 12 agents.

Was just trying to open your eyes to why some of us had the temerity to disagree with you and get excited about a prospective signing. Your pedantic slap down has, well and truly, sent me off home with my tail between my legs, with no supper.

Are you his agent? You have no idea what his wage demands are, so stop talking pish

The only pish is coming out your gob pal.

He can't justify high wages, he's a young pup and doesn't have a team. Common sense would say that it would be stupid to demand hgih wages otherwise we'd tell him to get lost.

Brilliant - the SFA are bound to pull out all the stops to help us!

The article quotes JJ as saying "we know what we are going to do with him if he signs", which would suggest to me that he's maybe likely to be loaned out.

Could also suggest JJ knows what position he wants Toto to play!

Jeezo.

We may just manage to sign a "free agent" six months after attempting to find the paperwork?

Something stinks about this.

On a side note, Toto was given the bleep test at training and they ran out of tape, seriously fit dude!!!!

I'm resisting the urge to make some sort of snide comment about how quickly that'll change the minute he signs. Grumble grumble.

Seriously though, it's good to hear that at least one of our signings might be ready to hit the ground running regardless of whether it means playing for us or going out on loan. The sooner he gets some game time under his belt, the better for us.

Are Hearts paying him to be here on trial/hang around until we find some paperwork?

Are Hearts paying his accommodation?

Is he? If he is, how long can he afford to wait?

Surely the SFA can quickly say whether they recognise him as a free agent or not? If they do then cant we just sign the guy?

If its up to us to prove he's a free agent then surely showing the evidence we have so far is enough for the SFA. Paperwork from a defunct club that is held by Italian FA surely isn't that hard to get.

How hard are we actually trying.

I understand he has signed as an amatuer until Jan. Off to Morton on loan ( I actually though the boy said Morecombe ).

I hear we have a couple of American trialists - one is here already and another is due shortly. Courtesy of Paul Ritchie who is now an agent I believe.

If he is an amatuer then can he play for us or can only play for part-time teams?

He would be able to play first team as an amatuer Livingston played Moustaffa Hadji as an amatuer and I think Jim Hamilton palyed as (yes I mean as and not like)an amatuer for a SPL side.

Has indeed signed for Morton on loan til turn of the year. Good chance to see how he performs against a higher standard opposition than he faced in pre-season! Sensible move.

Sounds like a wise move, he gets a regular game and an experence of the Scottish game while things get sorted out, better then training with no proper games till it gets sorted.

Be interesting to see the ages of these Americans, be interesting to see if they are any good.

So we can now re-open thread.......

Hmmmm

Dex closed the wrong thread  Open for business again.

Glad that Toto is away on loan so he can get competitive football while we wait on the (very very slow) Italian FA getting back to us.

Not the best debut and their fans seem just as quick to judge a player as we are. Lets see how he does over the whole loan spell before we decide if we love him or hate him!!!

I think Morton fans need to get real. When we "loan" them a player, they cant all be of the standard of the Whittmeister.

Perspective please Morton fans.

I thought I would have been able to post straight away here and so joined only to let you guys know about Toto's 'performance' for us on Saturday.

Usually I'm patient with new players and give them a bit of time but I think if a player is a certain level of shitness it's pretty clear in a short space of time. He was as bad as Adam Coakley and a player we had for a few games at the tail end of last season by the name Donovan Simmonds.

Lazy and disinterested. Unless the ball was within a 5 yard radius of him, he wouldn't move. At all.

His first touch was terrible and often landed at the feet of the opposition or a ridiculous height off the ground making it harder for himself to get the ball under control. Which he couldn't do.

Aerial ability? There is none. He must have misjudged the flight of the ball at least 90% of the time, and that was on a beautiful sunny day with no wind whatsoever. He even jumped for a few balls that were closer to the stars than his head. On the rare occasion that he did get his head to the ball, contact was minimal and the ball would trundle through to the defender still anyway.

Passing? He didn't find a team mate once I don't think.

Shooting? He managed one shot in his time on the park. He almost cleared the stand.

I'll be surprised if he's in our squad next weekend tbh, never mind the starting XI. It may be difficult to see how good or bad a player is, but when they clearly shouldn't be playing professional football I think it's pretty obvious.

The best quote on our website about him was: "He is the footballing equivalent of the Nigerian email scam."
