AndyMcI
BETHPAGE RAGE The final leaderboard from our single round tryout of a handicap system. Congratulations to the Winner, milanos, and to second and third placed hmfc21 and Dave243, who all used their handicaps to devastating effect on what's a tough course. The usual front-runners (Deviskan, ElephantStones, AndyMcI7, Chris1874) all still finished in the top ten despite having no stroke advantage, so well done to them. On balance, I do think that this evens the field out - although I am wary that some folk who haven't played that much and so haven't worked their averages down will get some additional benefit from their artificially high handicaps. But this advantage should disappear over time. I'm sufficiently encouraged to try the handicapping system out over a full four-round tournament, with different courses and conditions. So, late this evening I'll start another 'Major' tourney with handicaps in place. For anyone who wants to give themselves a better handicap advantage by lodging a couple of devastatingly poor rounds to drag their average down between now and this evening - too late, I've already taken note of everyone's current averages. Cheers AR for running these tournaments.
ArmiyaRomanova
PREMIERE HANDICAP TOURNEY A mixture of courses and conditions over four single play rounds, each open for 48 hours and with our handicap system in operation throughout. ROUND 1 The first round is now open for play at Kiawah Island, which you'll perhaps be used to playing in more clement weather... Good luck all!! Dave Spacey
just done a +2 round, 4 birdies, was looking at a par round until i landed in the bunker on the 17th, and 2 chips onto the green on the 18th, still my best round to date though. portobellojambo1
Ah well. tackled the first round of the new handicap tournament. doing fine over the first 9, then got stuck in a couple of bunkers coming home. Ended up with an 80 (gross), 6 handicap gives me a 74 (net), which shouldn't be any worry to those with little or no handicap.

ArmiyaRomanova
Do we ever play for prizes (credits) or whatever? Someone ran a tourney with an entry fee, and WGT auto-split the proceeds between the winners, and this might happen again. Impossible to do with our handicap system though, since WGT would award the winner/s, and there's no mechanism for them to then transfer these credits to our handicap winners. So that's a non-starter for the moment. However, if anyone is feeling particularly philanthropic and would like to offer up an actual, real-world, physical-item prize, to be mailed out to a tourney winner, PM me to let me know. Are these credits worth buying? Dont seem too cheap. Depends how often you play, and how much enjoyment you get from the game. Myself and a good few other 'regulars' obviously think that it's worth paying some money for better clubs, balls etc... Think I've probably spent about ?30 on the game in the last couple of months - which, given the amount of times I've played, represents decent value (to me anyway). Probably won't be spending any more for a while though. Edited August 24, 2010 by ArmiyaRomanova

What a hole from back there - made sure my ball wasn't gettting wet by smashing my 3wd into the buker and taking 4. Par at the last and a well deserved pint i the 19th to settle the nerves! ArmiyaRomanova
KICKBACK PREMIERE HANDICAP TOURNEY 34 players - half the club - teed off in the tourney on Kiawah Island. Currently leading after the first round is Hack player DavieHMFC with an astounding score of 61. Well done! Close behind him are two other Hack players, GeoffK1874 and babywhalo. Occupying fourth place and four strokes behind the pace is our leading Amateur player, hmfc21. So where are all the Pros and Masters in this brave new handicap world? First to feature is RussHMFC in 7th position. And the highest ranking player with no handicap advantage lies in 10th position - me (ayeball). Interestingly, five places in the current top ten are occupied by people gaining a maximum 20 stroke advantage, with the 0 handicap players mostly lying between 10th and 20th place. There's still a long way to go though..... Here's the full leaderboard, with three rounds yet to play. Poseidon
Wow, that was insane. Managed a quad and a triple-bogey which accounted for half of my +14. How brutal is it when you're hitting a 3 wood for your second shot on a par 4 then still have about 50 yards to go! Lost count of the bunkers I was in too. RussAsia
Shocking round.. From almost every par 4 my 3rd shot was from the bunker or heavy rough.. some lowlights thinking i was hitting a 180 yard 3 iron on a par 3 but noticed i hadnt changed the club properly as the ball flew straight over the green and out of bounds in the rough between bunker and green my shot went directly backwards into the bunker.. (not played golf in a couple of years but i didnt think that was possible)
