My very thoughts.

Oh FFS.

Computer says no. Some on here say yes.

Not a chance.

There is no way he should have been taking it. His confidence has obviously gone to hell.

Posted

Seriously?! He was just shot of confidence. He looked like he was praying to the Gods when he was teeing up the penalty

Posted

Morgan, Jeezo were all hurting, but why oh why would he choose to bloody miss.

It was a horrendous penalty, end of. He fully knows the stick he’s going to get if he missed. His bottle went and he needs dropped, simple as.

He should never have taken it. I would have let Spittal take it.

No he’s just devoid of confidence. Time for a seat on the bench. If he’s no happy with that **** um.

Nah but it sums him up this season dug meat hopefully manager sees sense and benches him now.

4th pen miss in his last 7. Shouldn't be on them.

Ridiculous suggestion. I suggest you close your account before friends or family see this post

I wondered the same but why would he?

Posted

No. He missed it because he was desperate to score a flamboyant penalty to regain the adulation of the fans and the press. Surprised he didn't go for a Panelka.

Not sure he has the ability to do so. He should have had courage to let someone else take it though instead of acting like billy big baws. He needs dropped immediately and punted in January

The fact that some of us are even asking the question should be a wake up call to the management team.

Posted

Absolutely not but he looked like he was going to miss before he hit it. There is no way he was 100% confident stepping up to it so he should’ve been a man and aww aye.. a captain! And put the team first and handed it to someone else

His recent penalty record is stinking for a striker, he’s bang out of form and should never have taken it, it was a stupid decision letting him take it!

He missed it because his confidence is gone. His confidence is gone because he let the summer nonsense get to his head and rather than knuckle down he’s completely chucked it.

It’s his own fault and probably the oeople

advising him as well.

Posted

No but should never have been the one to take it. Needs to never pull on the jersey again, rather have Musa or indeed Boyce playing than him. He's done with this club as far as I'm concerned

Nah. He missed it because he’s shite and chose to shit on hearts contract and believe he was going to rangers. He missed it because he’s an arse

Posted

Of course not Morg. He's a professional. He's lost it for whatever reason, needs to be dropped, or at least benched. Sadly I think his time with us is up. But he wouldn't miss on purpose.

Not scored in an age and goes for the top of the net.

He's just not very bright.

His body language means it’s a valid question, not a nice question but a valid one.

Only he knows.

difficult one - I wanted spittal to take it but if he misses shanks is a bottler etc etc

also shanks somehow manages to score the penalty he could then go on a run of scoring

ideally it needed taken out shanks hands and with him being the captain probs only critchely could do that

time has arrived / past for shanks to be benched for everyone’s benefit especially shanks

ironically had grant been on the pitch there would have been a case for him taking it without reflecting on shankland

So professional that he looks like he's towing the caravan Halkett brought back from his injury layoff with him.

Ok, ok.

Daft suggestion from me.

I just don’t understand why his penalty taking style changed tonight.

And, I’m so feckin angry.

Posted

Daft OP obviously but you have to question why he was taking it. I genuinely think most of us thought he was going to miss

It's as simple as that...even at his best he hasn't been the most convincing on penalties.

Doesn't usually go high with pens

It's a sad reflection on Shankland that this thread even exists. So little effort, so little commitment from a captain of Hearts.

Pish, Shankland has never ben a fast player.

Nah if he had tried to miss it  he probably would have scored

What would he gain by deliberately missing it?

I’ve done another post, Ian.

Daft, spur of the moment thread which I regret.
