Yes it is possible but depends on where teams finish in their groups.

Scotland would consider it a success to get to last eight.

To suggest they aren't capable of winning these tournaments is just plain stupid though, they most certainly are. They are a very good squad of players with real quality in a lot of positions.

 

No way am I jealous of them though, like so many on here.

 

England winning it won't be the end of the world for me and I certainly don't blame them for getting carried away, so far in my existence that part of it has been most enjoyable when the arse has fallen out of it.

I’m a lot more chilled out about it than I used to be. Partly because I have zero interest in English football these days and I’ve barely even heard of most of their players.

 

They will win something eventually, I’m sure. They almost have too many good players not to. And like Hibs winning the cup, I’ll accept it and move on. However, I’ll admit that given the choice, I’d prefer that they don’t - which is 100% down to the degree of media hype.

Got to agree with you there. But it's just the same few posters with thousands of posts on here, often dozens in the same threads. England can potentially do well, they could and should have won the last final. Southgate's decision making let them down, as did their specialist penalty taking subs! Lessons learned and they will be strong contenders.

 

Those going on about the English media...maybe if you read tabloid guff but then that's your decision. it's like expecting informed analysis from the Daily Record or the National. If you look at more quality output, there's no evidence of over optimism and there's plenty of informed analysis, caution and considered comment and scrutiny. An absence of which you could more fairly direct at the Scottish media.

 

Each to their own. I'm fine these days with England winning, just as my Yorkshire born mate is with Scotland doing so.

It's a toss-up between disastrous not even out the group stages type explosion and all the hyperbole that would go with it.  A REAL we're not as good as we think we are - but still not grasp that perhaps continually getting easy group stages and SKY marketing of the EPL inflates their ego just a tad.

 

Ooooor get to the semis and get put out by the first decent team they play but not realise this is what always happens and while they're a decent team, they're just not quite the top team, ever.  And being the bookie's fave is only cos all bunting flying, chair throwing, Tommy Robinson following gomeral are lumping on in willy hills.

 

Both scenarios work for me.  First one saves a few nerves.  Which is merely the curse of not so much sharing a border with them, but sharing national broadcasters with them.

 

ABE to the max.  And as per usual, my local will have its England corner and the banter wil be great, as it will with my English friends, family and colleagues.
