100% this, He did make mistakes in his time at Hearts but was decent (the problem for him is he came in after we had a season of McLaughlin who was great so make any negative side of the next keeper look greater, similar to any goalkeeper after we Gordon left.)

If Zlamel had been our main keeper that season we would not have been at the bottom.

I remember the home game against Kilmarnock after we had gone on a run of picking up points, we went 3-0 down and every goal could easily be blamed on Pereira (the pick of the bunch was the 2nd Killie goal when he ran out to the edge of the box to stop the player with ball despite a defender on them who was able to kick it into the net.) We battled back after that and got two goals and almost equalised but the damage was done.

Zlamel was a decent GK, Unfortunately you only are ever remembered for your mistakes or brain farts.

Wish he'd been my GK coach when I played as his warm ups were 2nd to none..

I used to think I wouldn't see a performance as bad as Kuskis against Inverness.

Then I saw Pereira.

I was at that game, I don't even think that was his worst performance, and I'm not sure Zander looked that good either on the day.  Cracking goal from Sean Clare though.

I can go back to Kenny Garland, who I blame to this day for 0-7, Thomson Allan, Craig Nelson, Ray Dunlop but this guy was the worst I’ve ever seen. Two factors in our relegation where Levein not only signing this clown but building him up to be the 2nd coming and Stendel playing him in so many games. He hardly made any saves, almost every shot on target was a goal. Absolutely shocking signing by CL.

Wtf!!

How on earth is this guy still playing ? It's actually quite impressive, a proper imposter and conman making a living as a pretend footballer.

Readings head of recruitment needs sacked for signing that imposter.

I mean, the penalty he gives away for the second goal is obviously ridiculous, but WTAF is he doing on his backside long before the striker has shot for the first?

A terrible, terrible goalkeeper. How the hell are clubs stupid enough to take him on?

Unbelievable! At 13 seconds he make an actual save. It was a result of an atrocious kick out, but all the same.

Sitting down for the first goal is just such classic Pereira.

The Derby keeper doesn't look good at the goal he conceded either. Unbelievable that this is the standard of keeping in that league.

The worst GK ever to be in between the sticks at Tynecastle

Made a living out of doing a profession very very badly.

Cost us so many goals

Wow is that depressingly familiar. Two gifted goals, entirely his fault.

Eerily similar to one in the Killie game posted above. You think, look, he's in decent position, the shot is going straight at him and . . . he just kind of sinks to his knees and the shot goes over him. And then he throws up his hands in frustration as if someone should have done something about that.

I guess recruitment specialists look at his play with his feet and his height and the length of his arms and think, it can't be THAT hard to teach him the basics of stopping shots . . .

Going to sound crazy, but i don't think he's bad, being hyped the way he was,was always going to be difficult.

His confidence is well shot.

Seriously though, how is this guy still playing at that level?? Do clubs not do any due diligence before signing

him? Do they not realise he’s absolutely abysmal?

He actually saved a shot in those highlights, didn’t take the ball in and parried, but all the same. Don’t remember him saving many shots with us

That was what shocked me the most from those highlights 😆

Caused by his poor kick out, which is usually the strongest part of his game

Was pretty excited when he arrived but dearie me he was sh1te.

Kurskis was worse IMO though.

Remember being more confident when Lee Wallace went in goals than when Kurskis was in between the sticks.

Kurskis was horrific but at least he only played a couple of games before getting dropped, Pereira was much more damaging to us

This is true - whole club was a shambles when Joel was here but he was particularly brutal. It’s the one position in the team that no matter solid a team you have if your goalie is Tom Kite then your gubbed.

Hard to believe he’s still in the game - his agent deserves a medal.

Aye you might be on to something there.

I mean, his inability to save even the most straightforward shots shouldn’t be held against him. Plus his save percentage of 55% (meaning almost every 2nd shot on target was a goal) which was by far the worst in the league, didn’t make him a bad ‘keeper.

Just misunderstood imo.

+1.

In the context of what he was allegedly getting paid it was outright fraud. Total joke of a 'player' that cost a manager his job (well he was stupid enough to pick him) and was key in the events that led to the travesty that was our demotion. I'm not sure there are many Hearts players I hate more.

One of the worst Hearts goalkeeping displays I ever saw was also against St Johnstone. The 1994 League Cup game when we lost 2-4 to them at Tynecastle and Nicky Walker had an absolute shocker. Was also the infamous game when Tommy Harrison was subbed on and off again by Hamster coupon.

Nicky Walker was more bothered about how his hair looked in games than actually making saves!

We’d have been safer with Zibi in goal that season.

Walker was a decent enough goalie for someone whose career was essentially a hobby to kill time until he inherited a fortune.

Aye, that squad wasn’t great by any means but it had absolutely no business going down. Him being as bad as he was had a negative effect on everything.

The defenders couldn’t trust him so they were either hoofing it up or just keeping it at the back, very rarely did they try to play out or drive the ball forward, then they’d overthink it and make a mistake and that lack of confidence seeped right through the team with the midfield constantly too deep and nobody wanting to take responsibility, then a huge gap between the midfield & forwards.

Had we had someone like CG in goals we’d have seen better from every player imo. Even Zlamal would have improved us.

From what I can see, he's only had about 4 first team games since leaving us.

Currently the sub goalie for League One Reading.

That’s still way above his level, continues to amaze how the “ex Man United youth” label dupes teams into thinking a player is worth signing.

Kenny Garland was much better (despite one particular nightmare appearance). Kenny had a shutout at Ibrox once, after all.

Brian Wilson was desperately bad (worse than Ray Dunlop) but managed an occasional decent performance.

Pereira actually was in goal for our 1-0 Cup win over Rangers BUT Ryan Kent must have blasted half-a-dozen chances over the bar. If he'd just hit the ball softly on target he'd have scored four or five 🙃

I'm sure Joel's dad is a friend of Mourinho and that's why MU signed him.....

Hearts should offer him a testimonial in recognition of his sterling service to the club. I cannot imagine a sellout crowd not being entertained. Even the warm up prior to kick off would be compulsive viewing. And have it in August when the festival's on.
