Storm Isha

Definitely the worst I've experienced in my current house (4 years). The wind just funnels down a hill and hits us almost straight on. No damage that I know of yet.

Wonder if the dog fancies being a kite.

3 successful landings in a row since @theshed's plane decided to head to Amsterdam instead of settling into Edinburgh for the night.

It's flown past Amsterdam still at 34500ft

Ryanair flight from Seville has just aborted its approach to Edinburgh Airport.

A number of the flights seem to have problems with their approach speed, i.e. the wind is slowing them down too much so the pilot is having to add some thrust which is affecting their descent speed.

Normally the approach over Cramond/Silverknowes sees planes at 1,000-1,200ft as they come off the Forth, but most seem to be coming in at double that altitude.

Don't know where it's off to now.

The Easyjet flights seem to be having better success landing in Edinburgh over Ryanair.

Health & Safety protocols? Pilot skill?

Ryanair are Boeing, EasyJet are Airbus. There’s a wee conspiracy theory for you. 😀

Dublin to Edinburgh (Ryanair) just had to abort landing.

They’ve just updated the wind warning for north Scotland to red. That’s 100mph.

I saw a post on an Irish weather forum about a gust of 176 km/h (about 110 mph) somewhere near Ben Nevis.  Apparently an hour ago the centre of the storm was 50 miles north-west of Stornoway.

Flight from Dublin has just aborted its landing.  I saw it's speed drop as low as 79 knots on its approach.

There are also flights from Bucharest, Shannon and Riga heading this way.

There's a DUB-EDI flight aborted which is flying back in the direction of DUB.  There's another DUB-EDI flight just passed Belfast flying towards EDI.

Not sure he’ll land. He’s on the right line but pretty high compared to the usual

And FR816 looks like it's going around for another try.  Meanwhile there's also a flight from RIX-EDI (ooooh, Vladimir) on its way in.

Riga. Then another Dublin flight. It's practically a red wind warning I place from 01:00 onwards.

It's blowing a hoolie.

I can't see it happening

One flight where I wish we had. Flying into Skiathos in Greece which is a notoriously short runway. So much so that planes couldn’t take off with a full fuel load so you’d stop at Thesalonika to top up. Plane came in to land in a storm and got slammed up as the wheels touched then slammed back down. Thought we were going to crash big time. Got off to see burst tyres. Scary.
