Some people may well have put their name on the list while not being in a position to buy a season ticket, in the hope that their circumstances will have changed by the time they get the opportunity. There will probably be at least a few who put their name on the list just in case it happened to be used as a priority category for cup final tickets or something. Thirdly, if you put your name on the list now, even if you don't get one for next season, your chance will come the following season or the season after that. If you don't put your name on the list, you'll never get one for as long as demand stays high enough for there to be a list, which will hopefully be many years!
