Former Republic of Ireland international Anthony Stokes was arrested for the second time this month in the early hours of this morning after an alleged garda chase in Dublin.

The ex-Celtic striker was arrested for alleged dangerous driving at approximately 3.30am on Tuesday morning after what we believe was a pursuit by gardai.

The footballer was apprehended in Cabinteely and is due to appear before Dun Laoghaire District Court next month.

Gardaí have confirmed that they have arrested and charged a man in his 30s in relation to an incident of dangerous driving in south Dublin this morning.

He'll be in the tin pail before long. Life seems to have taken a bit of a turn for him. I'm not going to go out of my way to rip the piss, but can't say I'm surprised given his previous. Deserves everything he has coming to him.

I heard him on SSB say that the threatening behavior towards refs, from players, was shocking and that more needed done to educate players.

The guy who threatened to ruin a woman's life.

7 years 2014-2021 for David Gray as a player and 126 appearances. Pretty weak testimonial credentials. Plus he is on the staff getting paid? What's going on here.

Testimonials used to be a great concept when players were paid a pittance and a big pay day could buy them a pub or newsagent to reward loyalty and give them a living after a short career. A guy who was paid well over the odds and probably still has a decent paying career getting a testimonial... bizarre

Or how about this in the article

Stokes spent much of his professional career in Scotland, playing for Celtic and Hamilton. He also had brief spells with a number of lower profile teams, including Sunderland.

Hamilton appear to be a larger profile team than Hibs and Sunderland

They were in 2014

Tbf for scoring that goal against Rangers he is classed as a legend, number of appearances etc is irrelevant

He must have been injured for a lot of that time.  Average of 18 games per year.

He isn't half milking the vermin for all he can get.

A well-nigh perfect analysis.

As for H1b5' #2 at the derby match? He was surely sporting something in tribute to 'The Diving Wig' on Saturday.

Rhetorical Q:-

"What IS it with footballers and their silly hair-do's?"

If they spent as much time concentrating on their football skills as they do prancing & preening about in front of a mirror, then they'd all be effin' Messi standard.

I jest ... or do I? 😆
