Tuipolotu is having a good game after being quiet in the last game. Also I only discovered last week he doesn’t play for Scotland based on residency but on the fact he has a Scottish grannie!!

It's a lovely story when you hear him speak about his grannie.

Isn't that the correct pronunciation?

It is indeed - just as Duhan is "Mer-veh" to rhyme with "Swer-veh" :D

So the ref has completely ignored the Tonga scrum either collapsing or disintegrating during the entire second half and chooses to penalise Scotland when it disintegrates yet again. WTF.

Yet people say refs have no impact on game. This one has been a disgrace

Definitely can look back on that if we finish short by a few points.

The refereeing is pointless.

And when the players point that out to him, he marches them back 10.

Little Hitler!

I've not seen such shite refereeing since Vale of Lune played Blackburn u16's!

Would the ref in that match have been a Mr D Razor? :biglaugh:

I would love nothing more than Scotland to beat Ireland and get through. Failing that, concentrate on head tackles against Murray, O'Mahony, Earls, definitely Sexton, Furlong and any of rest of them.

Will get the points difference but need to beat Romania by 80 plus.

Can you see butter fingers and squint throwing like that being able to keep the ball long enough to score 12 or 13 tries?  My word we need some accuracy.

That's possible as Romania are poor

Radio Scotland going to town on officials. Nobody understands why cards not red, why Tonga allowed to commit to many offences, why late tackles allowed and why no arm tackles allowed.

First yellow came up as being upgraded to red on their monitors yet was changed back again

All roads lead to Gorgie

I think we need swap round the starters next Saturday and keep the A team for the second half to make sure we rack up enough points. Scotland definitely lost momentum with the changes.

So the other yellow gets upgraded to a red. Who are Tonga playing next?

The second one was an assault on player who was unable to defend himself. It was cheap, unnecessary and should have been red immediately.

Their is no instruction that every decision has to go to bunker, or at least, it hasn't been made public.

They also don't name bunker official so they can't be criticised or subject to abuse. Sorry but the way to avoid abuse is to give correct decision.

That was terrible refereeing

Hate watching some of these Pacific Island teams with their cowardice and cheating! Always overly aggressive.

You can play aggressively and that's fine. It's the cheap shots that they use and Tonga/Samoa are the worst.

The cheap shots are cowardly. Yep, Samoa and Tonga the worst. Some of their players are brainless.

It hasn't been made public. But what they've been told is not to look at more than one replay and not discuss with TMO. And to give a red the ref wants to see a few replays and chat it through.

The reason given is so play is not delayed.

No we don’t

True. We need a bonus point win over Ireland but the points are back up if we don't manage 4 tries against best defence in world rugby.

Again, no we don’t lol. Get bonus point next week then we just need to beat Ireland by 7 points so they don’t get a losing point.

Check the points diff.  We either need a huge win vs Romania or a bonus point win over Ireland with no BP for them.

We get bonus point next week we go to 10 points. We beat Ireland by 7 points we will be level with them on 14 but go through since we beat them.

Wales out for me if they lose because Fiji should get 2 bonus point wins v Georgia and Portugal. Australia out if they lose.

Both would be relying on Georgia to beat Fiji or in Wales case stop bonus point.

Could be Australia v England in quarters if Australia win.

I thought this was a good analysis of the shambolic refereeing of Wales v Fiji. We all knew at the time that the ref was favouring the Welsh but picking out all these instances from the game really does highlight how bad it was.

I was reminded of it when I just saw coverage praising Morgan (#7) "coming off his line" to defend at a ruck. The same clip in this analysis says, (a) he started offside and (b ) he dived to floor making an illegal 'tackle'.
