As an example of the benefit to the local economy a friend was quoted £295 for one night in the Premier Inn on Monday - he ended up paying half of that out of town. I have some regrets that Edinburgh seems to put tourists ahead of locals but that's how it has developed and no point me or anyone else spoiling it for everyone else.
