Doesn't help that you polar guys just keep pushing yourself further apart and more ensconsed into your positions (looking at you SRB!!!) But all those performance ratings are totally subjective and you're stating them as fact, Just at random here, both Dundee games - not poor. Last week, thick fog, trudge of an away match, we dug in and won. Just what we've been missing and we'd have lost it at any point in the last 4 years. Home match against them, we battered them and didn't score, gave away a shite goal. Happens. Not ideal, but we were poor really. Similar to St J game really, where we battered them in reality. Home game against Aberdeen, we clearly weren't in our stride yet but still were better team first half, we didn't match them second which was a shame, but they aren't a bad team really. That last paragraph is - guess what!? - my opinion. We've been poor twice - Aberdeen and Motherwell away. Even the LC game, christ Celtic just steamrollered us, the boys were shellshocked and just didn't step up to plate - wasn't tactics, wasn't prep, it was rabbits in headlights. But you know what, unlike years gone by, the hung in, fought, believed and gave Celtic a wee scare in the end. This team has guts. Again, when was the last time we had that??? And who gets the credit for it? If Robbie shat in your cornflakes or has been eyeing up yer ma, just say so, we'll get it and support you through it. OK it’s the season of love and forgiveness and I’m going to lay of Robbie, who I actually like when I’ve met him a few times, and I will not mention him again until the end of this season. I promise, unless he’s punted before that. 😎.

Look I didn't really want him back, and I wanted rid last season, but facts is facts and we're sitting third, have played some very good football (if a bit toothless) with a work in progress squad. Hard to argue he's doing well. As I mentioned in my previous post, this squad have dig and heart - that's the biggest thing I've missed seeing for a while in a Hearts team. Just find your objective and constance a bit tedious, Mitch, but you're entitled to your opinion of course!

The squad has limitations and mistakes are made but at least we’ve got some heart and pride back. That’ll do for me (for now at least😀)

With the quality of player Robbie now has available to him, the level of football we're playing in away games in particular isn't good enough for me. I'm talking about tactics, formation, passing the ball with purpose, creating chances, scoring goals. Admittedly the conditions and opposition were equally poor. I don't expect you to agree. The Dundee game was a wretched one to watch but in part because they set out to make it so. Lots of chipping, tackles, nasty little fouls, and such. They played very negative football and until Walker came on none of our players could seem to find the edge to break it down. And TBF we were missing several important players. Despite the stick he gets on here for his crosses, Smith often settles the play and starts a forward move. Losing Kingsley hurt us on the left, and of course our wingers are quality but goal shy. And as well as Haring played, Beni is just far more disruptive in the middle. It was a game on the road against a prime relegation candidate desperate to grind out a result in bad conditions. I won't say it was a fantastic performance but all in all I'd call it middling rather than poor.

It's not that long ago we would have collapsed without our best striker, best midfielder and one of our best defenders. To still pick up wins on the road is a very good sign that things have changed for the better.

This is so close to where I am at I could have written it if I wasn't full of red wine. The only two games we have been pish are Aberdeen and Motherwell away. Your other assessments are on the button. Half way through a season that's pretty good for Hearts. Not what we want but a pretty reasonable place to be all things considered Yes, we are capable of improving and the signs are we are heading in that direction more quickly than we expected. The last improvement on that scale was under wee doddle almost 40 years ago. If the guy you are trying to reason with can't live with that level of progress without losing his shit then he would be as well as giving up because he will never be happy supporting Hearts.
