Getting put out the Scottish by Brora is shocking getting put out the league cup by alloa is equally shocking, getting put out the cup by Hibs when leading by 2 goals -0 only for them to go on and win it resulting in them being the last Edinburgh team to win the Scottish Cup 🤔 getting put out of Europe by minnows is shocking, but are board accepts shocking.

Why you going on about Robbie Neilson? It’s a thread about Daniel Stendal’s ineptitude. Could you please start a separate thread if you’re going to insist on taking this one off-topic. 👍🏻

The only reason this thread is completely going and going is because another cup failure this season.  Two goals needed against ICT and possibly have Hibs at home tomorrow instead of Dundee Utd.  Certainly not Celtic away because of it.

Lots of posters have compared the two (or three) over the past few pages?

They have but only at the prompting of one Robbie-obsessed poster. It’s been done to death and their records are clearly night and day. It would be good to be able to discuss the pros and cons of Stendal without it always having to be dragged back to Robbie.

Levein got a 5 year plan, Stendel got a 5 month plan. Robbie get's unlimted time and money because he can win the scottish championship.

I genuinely think Robbie’s time would be have been up if we had a poor first round of fixtures this season. As it stands we’re unbeaten and lots to be positive about so he’s earned more time.

Yes that's football, did it end Neilson’s career when he got sacked by Mk dons? Or take two attempts at getting utd promoted?

I'll discuss the pros and cons with you on both Robbie and Stendel, you go first 👍

Dan' was sacked because of unfair demotion.  Not sacking Robbie after 2 cup humiliations(no, not the cup v hibs and the waiters in the Europa first time around)  and giving him more time and seeing what time can do for a manager at this time shows it's hard to completely write DS off if he was also given time.

For me the difference is when you look at it like a set of scales. For Robbie you can balance up those defeats by placing league success on the other side. For Stendal, there really isn’t anything to put on the other side to balance the terrible results. The same pattern seems to have continued in his present managerial position.

Do you base these stats on Robbie's league 1 with Mk dons?.

If you can only discuss Stendal (or any other subject matter) within the context of Robbie Neilson then you probably have to admit to yourself you have an obsession or at best a fixation with Robbie which from the outside appears quite unhealthy.

Try making a post about Stendal without mentioning Robbie. You might find it cathartic.

Robbie Neilson is Robbie Neilson, you will see that this season we are already out 1 Cup 😉

Robbie doesn't bother me in the slightest i think he's holding our club back, but i will still go and support the team because the team isn't Bob or Robbie Neilson of Midlothian, it's Heart of Midlothian 👍

And no man is bigger than the club.

Where as DS got us into the Scottish Cup Semi Final knocking out Rangers despite a squad sitting joint bottom when he took over.

You have to balance that performance out too if you don't want to be too selective.  Also our derby win down ER.  Something RN has never managed to do and his highlight down there was erm, celebrating a draw.

I don't think many fans think this.  It's an unhealthy obsession in general some have wanting to see our former players or managers we sack or release fail to justify the decisions.

See Irving/Hickey just now.  You wouldn't believe who the actual Jambo is.

Suppose it depends on what weight you put on specific results. I know for some people our derby results define their view of the season. I’d rather have a successful league finish and put up with a derby defeat and a poor cup run than a poor league finish where we ended up unbeaten against Hibs and got to a league cup semi. Everyone has different priorities though which is totally understandable.

Good man.

I guess with Stendel for me I seen light at the end of a really shitey tunnel based on the cup and the derby.  St Mirren was shite but that happens and nobody thought the league was just going to stop, we took it to court for months because it was unjust.   No covid ending, pump Hibs in the Semi and stay up everyone imo would be behind DS the following seasons and patience and not jumping the gun, like sticking by Robbie despite Alloa and Broara shows what can be achieved - especially with backing in the background and by that I mean not having Levein kicking about and having no background staff.  Here's a few snippets of when DS arrived.  He can or could only dream of the backing and assistance Robbie has now.

Tbf, Hitler was all about attack as well.

Neglected the boring, practical stuff. In Hitlers case it was stuff like supply lines he just couldn't be arsed with-too boring.

With  Stendels it was defending and tactics.

Both had a bit flair, liked to attack., got the crowd going.

It's a random comparison tho, Hitler was not a football coach or even German.

Yeah the St Mirren match probably weighs heavy in a lot of people’s views of Stendal. It certainly does mine. It was a massive massive game and I was so gutted with our performance that night. We looked completely unmotivated and unorganised and I resent Stendal for that result and what it meant for the next twelve months in the history of Hearts.

100%.  Because of what happened next we had months and months to reflect too.

I used to think it was shite when players or managers turned around and said they are happy the next game to bounce back was soon etc.
