Cade
Really nasty pile up in the main peloton today in the Dwars Door Vlaanderen. Wout van Aert did his collarbone and a few ribs and is out of the rest of the classics season. Biniam Girmay, Jasper Stuyven, Mads Pederson all came down too, along with several others. Van Aert, Stuyven, Girmay and Michele Gazzoli all abandoned the race. Pedersen, Gianni Vermeersch, Alex Kirsch, Anthony Turgis, Harry Sweeny and Brent Van Moer also came down but managed to continue. Not content with bike crashes, the Soudal team car crashed into the Medical car, with the medical car ending up in a ditch. This then halted the women's race which had to be held for 15 minutes. Tazio
It’s all heating up in the Ronde Van Vlaanderen. Lots of attacks off the front, rain now entering the equation.

Dusk_Till_Dawn
Nasty crash for Vingegaard
Cade
Remco Evenepoel got a broken collarbone and scapula in the same crash, and Jay Vine sustained fractures to three of his vertebrae. Brutal crashes this year, the Grand Tours will be won by whichever of the big names hasn't had a major crash!

Could have been a whole lot worse if he hadn’t done a miraculous bunnyhop over a ditch at 60 kph.

Tazio
Uh oh. The French farmers are out on a protest. Reminds me of the brilliant film A Sunday In Hell when the riders need to stop as striking miners are blocking the road.

Tazio
That chicane doesn’t help Arenberg at all. It needs to be about 200m further back so they’re not creeping into the entrance.

Cade
Women's Amstel Gold: Police motorbike hit by car. Police closed road for investigations. Race stopped for over an hour. Race resumed but shortened. Far too many accidents involving motorbikes and/or cars on the cycling road racing scene these days. It's staggering that Team Directors are allowed to be the driver. And there clearly needs to be more training for the camera bikers.
Cade
Fleche Wallone was something else today. Rain, hail, sleet and snow along with nasty winds. Absolutely brutal conditions. Great solo attack to win it by a Welsh laddie too.

Poor guy is shaking from the cold and has to be carried to the team car. He was showing signs of hypothermia.

Tazio Posted Thursday at 21:23 Share Posted Thursday at 21:23 Two days until the Giro. I can’t see past Pogacar but as they say you have to stay upright for 3 weeks. Lots of people have home down for the giro/Tour double but that’s a big effort nowadays with the more tactical nature of racing. We saw it last year with Jumbo Visma setting the dogs on him to break him.
Cade Posted Thursday at 22:00 Author Share Posted Thursday at 22:00 Pog is the clear favourite, not just for his current form but because most of the other big names are crocked. It'll be an interesting race.
