No problem, I'm not disagreeing with you in any way, but I just thought you had used a wrong example of where we are failing. I genuinely do not believe there is any team in this league that we have to stand off, and not attack. But in attacking it has to have a purpose. Playing the ball across the park has its moment, but the purpose of that moment should be to drag the defensive unit around. And by keeping two good, wide players in position that in itself reduces the amount of movement the defence can make as those two players, even if not involved in the game 100% of the time, attract defenders towards them. But it does also need effective players up front, players who once they have the ball if they are unable to finish themselves know exactly where everyone else is, and which areas they can release the ball into. There is nothing to be gained by playing the ball across the park left to right, for example, with the only option then being to play it back across the park from right to left again, any movement sideways should be with the intention of deciding who the recipient further forward is going to be. If the defenders don't know who the intended recipient is they then have to cover all bases, which in itself creates further space for our players to both play in and move into. And play players in their correct positions, it is difficult to be critical of players who are playing out of position. In fact even with Boyce he gets some criticism because he doesn't do enough, at the moment he is effectively having to patrol and work the forward third of the park on his own, which is both unfair and doesn't work for us.

Maybe you and I could get together and apply for the manager's job.

The frightening thing is we can all see it but the existing manager cannot.

I think we are all a bit raw after another indifferent performance & result last night.

Fingers crossed, the 2nd half of the games are as good as the 1st half & we will all be happy Jambos at 4:50^_^

I've had a feeling we have been less motivated by the absence of a true challenge.

Agree with many posts on this subject, but this one sums it up in one.

Yip.

When in the final third- cross it or hit a shot. No need to for the extra passes.

Yip.  That does my head in.   No one will take the responsibility (Boyce excepted) and when they do it invariably fails either to work the keeper or makes the back row.

I am not sure this two wide player tactics are working. The idea is to stretch the parked bus and create gaps for the attacking midfield to exploit. Trouble is the opposing teams seem to be able to shut down the wingers and there is no plan B as we are now short in the middle of the park.

unlike some, I have not written off Kastineer or GMS. In fact Kastineer saves us last night, blocking a shot which was a certain goal otherwise. I just do not think they know what to do when plan A is being shut down. Indeed, at one point RN moved Kastineer into the strikers position. He clearly did not understand what is being asked of him.

Perhaps, instead of being overly complex and overthinking the issue, we just need to go 4 4 2 and add some bite.

Good analysis of where we are

However the idea of bringing in a big front man would surely be part of an overall plan to get crosses in to the box

Just too narrow and we can't even get a winger to go past his man,  get in behind the defence and cut it back with any regularity.

No I knew you were at it last night bud.

To be honest I don’t believe sacking a manager with a team sitting at the top of the league is something any team should be doing.

However persisting with a non midfield, playing Naismith anywhere other than a striker and constant slow, sideways/backwards possession is wearing me down to the point of apathy.

West Ham have really surprised me this season and it is, pretty much all down to the management team.

They’ve brought in players to play the way Moyes wants to. Grafters, fighters and players who want to get forward at pace.
Not spent a fortune but got the right players.

Beaten by a better team today but we’re never out of it

Really enjoy watching them

Smith was in good crossing position 3 times second half and over hit every one

Smith has been very poor recently. Been disappointed in him tbh. Should have scored from 18 yards last week and put it past the post with their keeper out of position and defensive errors as well.

I agree with what Robbie is trying to do.

Pace down the flanks with a target man in the middle.

Just need the quality of player to execute that otherwise we are left with the narrow tippy tippy congested football we struggle with.

Jambo in Bathgate

One of our problems this season is that Halkett and Popescu have had numerous attempts on goal but have wasted these. You expect at least 6 or 7 goals from centrehalfs Last night both missed headed chances.

Halkett is a mystery, suspect he was out top scorer last season and started with a goal at Cowdenbeath this year but don’t think he’s scored since. Based on his record over the years I’d have backed him to grab 5-10 goals this season.

Popescu just seems to avoid hitting the target at all costs, maybe confused which box he’s in

You see my opinion going forward Robbie isn't the man to improve this club, you see you give your West Ham a bit of a discredit tbh mate, they are more than grafters, fighters, they are a team that has real ability, just look at the way moyes has lingard playing, now lingard is out of favour at Man Utd, but that's the difference between a manager that knows how to get a player to kick on and recapture his form.

If you can show evidence of Robbie doing this then please show me?.

Long term we need a plan and in my opinion Robbie can't fulfil it, he doesn't match the ambition of the fans or club, his comments after the game last night show that.

Back to your team West ham they are more than just grafters, they have skill and ability you were playing 3 at the back today , but really it's almost a false 3 as Creswell is a good ball player, with declan rice prepared to drop in and cover if he wants to drive forward with the ball.

Soucek is rock solid and has chipped in with goals this season.

8 goals in 25 games is very good considering he's a defensive midfielder.

Ben Johnson is from the youth academy, and has been with the club since the age of seven and is really a winger, but has been turned into an attack minded fullback.

Moyes showing he's prepared to give youth a chance 👍

Coufal solid player.

Declan rice an another player from the west ham academy, wanted by many clubs says it all really.

Lingard, Bowen, Benrahma, Lanzini, Fornals, Yarmolenko, all players with ability and then the man upfront Antonio who's like you said Is a grafter but he has ability as well.

You don't get the nickname The Academy of Football for nothing.

You have produced many a technically gifted player.

Your more than a team of grafters and fighters mate always have been 👍

Just takes the right guy to change the mentality of the club.

Hope you like my summary ☺.

I wasn't happy with RN being brought back, and I've already posted elsewhere to say he should go at the end of the season.  And given the resources at our disposal we should be cruising this league even more easily than we're doing.

But this result?  We went to Inverness to play the draw specialists.  We drew 1-1.  I'm neither greatly surprised nor disappointed at that result.

Yep.  If we'd drawn 1-1 at Inverness when we were both in the premier league it wouldn't have generated half the angst that this result has caused.

I've learned in the last 24 hours that RN is on a three year contract, so he's going nowhere at the end of the season.

True, which kind of makes polling us for our opinions a bit of a redundant exercise.  Ah feck it, hopefully he'll come good.

It doesn’t make it redundant. It’s an expression of opinion. I know the club would rather we all kept quiet and kept ponying up more money for them to waste but who the hell else is going to call them out? Not FOH, that’s for sure.

Nick Walsh is an appalling referee so who knows how it will pan out.We better win as its my 52nd birthday saturday and want a good weekend. It won't be pretty or easy and longer we dont score the worse we get. Worst scenario we lose then wighton scores winner again for pars. But if we score early a nervy 1-2 for us. Lose or draw this and pars win and the pressure mounts on Robbie then statement by Ann on monday saying board back him 100 percent.

It’s part of an interview with SKy where the main topic was fast covid testing ( apparently ) not a board statement. 😄

I know this is a big ask but will try.  I got two signed tickets and the signed letter from ICT and bought a copy of the programme.   I was going to frame the letter, the programme and a ticket like it was shonw earlier in this thread.  However the signed tickets I have do not have the 27 under them.  Is there anyone out there who has got two or more tickets with the 's 27's on them and who would swap one of them for one of my signed tickets.

Appreciate that it might be long shot but thought I would ask.
