Hearts 0 Morton 1 in front of 2000 odd fans in May 1979 in relegation season is a game any real Hearts fan, alive at that time, won't forget.

2000 at a home game, just about lowest attendance I can recall being at.

They may be diddy team to you, but they still need to be respected, especially by players and management.

You really don't have a clue how football works, do you.

I was there. 🤨

Yeah it's not really comparable. I believe we were financially struggling back then.  Unlike today, where millions have been pumped into the club.

By fans AND benefactors, brought on board by "Budge."

The f****** entitlement of the bumends, no matter how you view her failings  who can't give her the courtesy of all the hard work of typing "Ann", she has even made it easier by not having an "e" at the end of her name.

Cue the predictable bellend response.

I still hate Third Lanark for beating us in 1897.

Good point actually.  Hopefully those benefactors helped pay off that cowboy builder brother of hers.  👍

Another low of total ignorance about Hesrt of Midlothian.

One the great Cup ties a 3-3 draw at Cappielow followed by a 2-0 win in the replay

I think I remember Donald Ford scoring a hat trick of penalties at Cappielow

I was there too. A remarkable turnaround to challenge for the Premier league and Cup double just 7 years later.

It does for me. They were a pain in the ass late 70s and early 80s.

Andy Ritchie......20st with feet like Nureyev......Took the best free kick in Scotland as well. Deadly!

Yip. Special shirt made for his belly. Think he ended up at Motherwell at the end of his career, could be wrong though.

I think Sandy Clark’s debut was there. I thought he was gash at West Ham and wasn’t expecting much.
Sure he scored a couple and went on to be a fantastic signing

He certainly wasn’t seen as an exciting signing.

Highlights of that were on Scots port. You may still find them on you tube. Think it was 3-2 victory

If you don't treat opposition with respect, you are setting yourself up to fail. Doesn't matter about money, we still expect to beat Celtic/Rangers when we play them and they spend millions more than we do.

A fantastic player for us. A battler with an eye for goal.  Loved him growing up.

Agree with that. And it worries me that some of the more disrespectful stuff posted by Hearts fans on social media can/will be used by opposition managers to fire up their teams.

memories of Cappielow

1st  early League cup section in the sun, 5-0 victory (74-75??)

2nd gubbed 5-3 in a league game, Buzzbomb played for them

3rd Sure we lost to Ritchie & McGhee:muggy: 2-1, Alfie Conn ran at referee Miko style and ref went flat on his back. only a yellow.

4th Big fat wife always hung out her window at Port Glasgow giving the vickies to the Hearts busses.

By some maybe.

I remember I bought the DR before jumping on the 33 bus into town to go to work. Back page was Hearts sign Sandy Clark (50k transfer fee I think). I was delighted. Told my workmates he’d be a great signing. Never in doubt about being right.

We could do worse in January in resigning Willie Johnston and the two Morton centre halves (Doak and Mackin). A bit of pace on the wing and some take no prisoners defending. Even though they’ll all be between 60 and 70 now.

Just let them watch the Alloa & Pars games : laid bare for all to see how toothless this lot is.

My, my!  My Furstenberg days.

Sure there was a game where we scored 3 in the last 10, might even have been 2-0 down  For's penalties, I think it was 3-0.

Pasquale for King

The only thing I remember about going in the 70s was how long it took to get to their after passing Glasgow, seemed to take an age.

Just noticed Tierney listed as a sub if that's Lawrence Tierney was a guest Hearts player at a summer training course at Lasswade, most of us kids were better than him.

Now I've got another reason for finding "him/her/whatever" a pain in the posterior, forcing you (and now me) to remember the long suppressed "abuse" of watching that game.  I thought I'd got over it but back to therapy.

I’m going to lock this at 14:30 to ensure we only have one match thread. 😎

So any news of streams will be buried in the humungous match thread.

Its hard enough getting the team, or was until it's billboarded
