Its like a pool party at michael Barrymores now

Backs against the wall

If you're invited to that party and go, you don't want your back against the wall!

Setting ourselves up nicely for a big **** up right at the end of qualifying.

It's the hope that does you in.

That's a shame...especially after them beating the number one side in the world.

🤭

Quite a confusing time for the English

Did we plan to sit that deep, it was immediate from the second half that we backed off.

First half we absorbed pressure but put it back on them and I felt we matched them. Second half...

Yasss.

Backs to the wall at times in that 2nd half, however, without Robertson, Tierney, Christie, Armstrong, Forrest plus loads others.

They missed a couple of sitters but generally we defended pretty well and we also hit the bar and had some other good chances.

Really pleased to see us getting ****ing stuck in last couple of games. It's really been missing from our play the last few years.

Cannae really complain, unbeaten in 8. Beat the Czech Republic with Considine and Hanlon in defence ffs.

We were lucky they are pants though tbf.

What a difference Lyndon Dykes makes but I will take that as a result!

We got lucky but winning becomes a habit, McTominay is certainly improving as a CB.

Also, fair play to Clarke. I was a bit critical of him sticking with 3 at the back but he's been vindicated. It's good having Mctominay back there too ( another thing I was critical of) as he's the only CB we have who can bring the ball forward.

Very lucky to hold on at the end. They should have had a couple.

I'll take it but, we need to learn lessons from this game for when we're up against a better team.

I don't watch Scotland so take my opinion at face value, but I really don't get why Scotland fans like to put Steve Clarke down. He's got the same pool of players as anyone else would have, and is getting good results. They might not be dishing out convincing wins, but it's Scotland we're talking about. A nation who in football terms, have been bang average for years now. Where this sense of arrogance has come from is beyond me.

It's maybe not been pretty on the eye at times, but it's sure effective. Scotland are 90 minutes away from a major finals again, and in this Nations League, have gone from League C, to the cusp of League A in the quickest time possible. Scotland in League A means big money spinning ties and famous nights at Hampden against the big boys, and paves the way for Scotland to really establish themselves on the footballing map again.

If I was a Scotland fan, I'd be very excited about the future with Clarke at the helm.

I think McGuire is a big diddy but I pity the lad when I think what the tabloid back pages will have lined up for him tomorrow.

I remember getting beat by Kilmarnock at Murray field.

I thought then that Clarke is a bloody good manager getting the best out of average players plus Kris Boyd who was quite a good player.

Its not pretty but is effective.

The fight and desire is there for all to see and it's been my biggest bug bear in years gone by...players not giving a stuff playing for Scotland. Every player tonight, regardless of their ability, played like they wanted to be there.

Think that comeback shows, as well as their games against us, that they're a far better side than their ranking suggests. Very technically good with some cracking attacking players.

Apparently Declan Gallagher spent a year in prison for battering someone at a wedding with a baseball bat

No wonder the other teams aren't scoring

Considine was actually very good tonight. He is a very limited football player but he's done his defensive job well and he's done well for Scotland. Incredibly I'd have him over Mckenna who is one of the most overrated donkeys I've ever seen. Maguire would be proud of him.

Still undecided bu the Man U lad at the back...he played well tonight overall......had his moments though.

Just one win from last 2 games to win the group. A draw from next game in Slovakia who are out might be enough.

Then we're in next Nations League draw with France, Germany, Portugal etc..

The polls would suggest you're wrong.

Best to keep politics out of this thread though.

He was good v Slovakia as well. He probably appreciates being able to represent Scotland at his age. Certainly did enough to be part of future squads. Fair play to him.

A professional footballer who carried out a vicious assault on a man with a baseball bat at a Blantyre hotel was yesterday (Wednesday) jailed for three years.

Winning the group puts us in Group A with the top teams for next Nations League.

AND gives us a chance to qualify for the World Cup through play offs. Think there are only 2 places but it's a chance.
