Today's results showed that no team is likely to go on the kind of run that will prevent us winning the league, and that the over-all standard is good enough for us to need to work hard every game to get it done quickly.

Graham Alexander,  "the players were brilliant today, weren't they".

When asked about his red card.  😂. He wouldn't answer about it several times.

Aberdeen will still get third. Reading the EEN report, Ross doesn't know what he's doing.

Well, you can't really sugar coat an abject 0-2 defeat to a shocking Motherwell side.

Can't see any team below us reaching 50 points.

We already have 39 with 9 to play so should be okay.

Would be nice to get some form going, though, to just remove any doubt.

Vital that we beat Dundee and Ayr the next couple of Saturday's.

For this forums collective state of mind, if nothing else.

Just go to the shed for a bit its far less of a lunatic asylum than here even on the pandemic and indy threads 😉

Petty squabbling about important events or petty squabbling about football? 😟

Thank god all the other teams in our league are utter shite and dropping points everyweek otherwise we would be looking at a very embarrasing season imo, the rest of the teams shiteness in this division is saving our coaching team from the chop.

The relative strengths of teams always determines league placings.

Oxymoronic term!

No "collective!"

And as for mind, no amount of therapy can deal with brain farts!

McEneff looks exactly what we've been crying out for. His ball into the box for Boyce's goal shows he's always thinking of attacking. It's not what the purists on here would probably call "good football" but he hit a poor free kick then instead of playing a safe back pass or trying to trap it and do too much pass to keep possession he lumped it into the box asap knowing that Halkett and Popescue would likely still be lurking there. Result: Halkett knock-down for a goal.

Said before, I wish we would go more direct like that more often and look for knockdowns in this league. It's not the place for patient possession football IMO.

Thought that myself when I saw it.

It’s almost a naive way of playing - just get it in the mixer - but effective when the defence has to quickly reorganise itself after a set piece.

Its because we are better, pretty simple to understand.

we need to improve big time for the big league.

Yip, in this league, direct is the way to go.

No need to wait for a gap , the short pass or to get to the by-line every time

Diagonals, second balls, get in in the box as often as possible and shoot when in range.

Tbf We have been getting more balls in the box recently, shit finishing and a bit of bad luck maybe stopping us scoring a few more.

Being a bit more patient might help in the top flight tho, for example v hibs and Celtic, the defenders and goalies are better and  You don't want to give possession away to cheaply  as then they can hurt you and won't give it back as quickly as teams in this division.

In this league we win it back  recycle it more often than not as our general possession shows along with efforts ( way wards) on goal.

Get it in the box, win the second ball, get it back in. hit a shot now and then.

Don't **** up at defending set pieces or give shitty headed back passes to gift goals

- jobs a good un!

Unless you have players who can unlock right defences with clever passes then patient build ups don’t really work. We don’t have such players (since Bruno?)

I don’t think we should be sticking Popescu up front or anything but we do need to get the ball into the

final third as quickly as possible. Constantly recycling the ball allows their defence to reorganise and that kills us, even at Championship level.

Your last paragraph is the template for success in Scotland.

I see this 'other football' thread is buzzing at the prospect of a national cup final today. 😁

It's only on Premier Sport so hardly anyone will watch it.

Even so all the threads are turning into carbon copies of each other, same posters, same points, same old stories.

I'll probably listen (or rather, hear it in the background) on the radio.

Rather that than watch the mind numbing EPL.

Hard game to call.

Extra time seems likely, to me.

Not at all fussed who wins but, if forced, I'd maybe just prefer St. Johnstone. If they weren't at Hampden today it would be Hibs.

St. J after aet and penalties.

One of my neighbours has a big St Johnstone flag up at the front of his house for today.

For that reason, I want Livi to win 8-0.

It could have been  a re-run of that wonderful final of 2003.

Prob been spoken about before, but similar to Dykes, didn't Robbie have a look at Rooney/have in for a few days, in his first spell?

says on wiki (I know not the most reliable) that he was on trial with us at the start of 15/16 season

Malinga the Swinga

With Charlie Adam testing positive for Covid on Friday, and presuming that keeps him out for next week, Dundee could be in danger of being dragged into relegation play off place.

Hopefully we add to their woes on Saturday with 3 points.

National Cup final and no highlights or coverage on BBC or STV.

Must be only country who would allow this to happen.

It’s piss poor, I agree.  Not sure what happens in other countries but national cup finals should be on some sort of free tv live.

Johnstone had a chance there to finish it.   Strangely the simple pass through wasn't taken.   Ended up a blunder pass, the counter ended there.

Aye, that was fun.

I'd resigned myself to them winning that one.

Two quick-fire goals later and we could breathe easy.

It was '04, dave. 😊
