That’s sad news if true, Castore stuffs been getting absolutely panned for being dreadful quality, umbro a good classic brand and would be a shame if they lost their identity
Jambo in Japan Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 I'd be surprised if we ended up with hummel kits as I think their UK distributor went into administration causing a lot of clubs to pull out of their deals. They may have found another supplier but I'm not sure. https://www.footyheadlines.com/2023/04/6-uk-teams-have-already-left-hummel-after-bankruptcy-only-3-renewed-kit-deals.html Nike did buy Umbro in 2007. I think by incorporating them it allowed them to have the biggest share of the market for football shirts and equipment over Addidas. Umbro already being a significant, established brand in the UK. I think it's what ultimately led to England shirts being made by Nike. Umbro signed with Man City as they were sold by Nike, but Nike did get the City contract after Umbro had finished. Not sure if the deals were connected however. https://www.ft.com/content/eef184f4-8137-11dc-bf46-0000779fd2ac If we've got a year left with Umbro, I imagine at this stage they've already proposed designs to the club. We'll probably be in an Umbro kit regardless of whether they're bought out or not. -IF- Castore buy them out, I have no idea what their intentions would be with the brand. Probably use it to generate an income/market hold while they sort out their own brand. They've had a good bit of bad press with the Villa women's team and printing Wolves badges upside down (), just off the top of my head. Would hate to see Hearts in a Castore kit. If we're moving away from Umbro and want a change from Addidas, I've quite liked some of the recent Errea ones.

Dunks Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Nike sold Umbro in 2012 and they're now owned by the same company that owns Pony.

Collar and stripe are different. Certainly wasn't a season to remember in it, other than an Ibrox win. Was an iconic and memorable though, a bit like like the silver top, brings back the wrong memories.

It's complicated though, they're owned by a brand management group that licenses out the brand. I don't know which company licenses the rights here but it's a different company in South America.
