Daniel Stendel - not taking any wage.

This in no way, shape,  or form should be lost within the other thread.

What a fantastic selfless gesture from the manager going to AB and telling he’s willing to drop a wage so others less fortunate can perhaps keep a full wage.

(I would delete the thread I made if I wasnt banned from it (I didn’t run away) - I made a fool of myself, admittedly in the heat of the moment, he isn’t a fraud and he might not even be suited as the best manager to get us out of the mess we will find when football becomes back to forefront but I’m sorry for saying that, he’s definitely one of the good guys and I’m delighted we have someone like him at the club at this time with that attitude. Please don’t let this be about that shit though and more to do with the generosity and humility of the manager)

Daniel is the best thing to happen to HMFC in years. I truly hope we keep him. For someone that is very new to our club then it’s a wonderful gesture and a sign of a very humble human being. I wonder if the previous manager has the goodwill of grace to follow in his footsteps?

Great gesture from the gaffer. I so want him to succeed at our club but he has shown his humanity to the core by making this fantastic gesture. Selfless, absolutely selfless ♥️♥️

Well said, takes a big man to admit when he was wrong. Can’t wait to see what his predecessor does.

i was proud when we took the “leap of faith” and confounded Scottish football with the appointment of Daniel Stendel - and I retain that pride.

Crazy though it may seem, with us at the foot of the table, and great uncertainty about our status next season, recent events have increased my pride at being a Jambo - impressive things that Hearts have been the first to do in Scotland!

First there was Ann Budge’s proactive outspoken stance regarding the relegation decision.

Then there was her proactive decision to take “immediate action to cut staff costs and overheads”.  Acting swiftly, as she said, “to ensure that we, as a Club, can weather the storm”.  Despite the stupid “Hearts are insolvent” talk, this will prove to be a prudent step.

Now we have Daniel’s selfless and exemplary decision to not take his wage.  Bravo!

Three outstanding ways where we are leading the way, leading by example.  Makes this Jambo proud!

(I also agree with your final remark, Saughton Jambo.)

Superb actions by DS...even if we go down by whatever means, we need to keep him and his staff and go again...

He needs a clean slate, allowed to implement his thoughts and M.O. from the get-go and he can be judged fairly after a season at the very least. I do think he has bought into us and im very hopeful he could spark us into life given a proper chance without the legacy of Levein literally being underneath him

Always❤'s

Hearing that Naismith is doing the same.  It won’t be forgotten by the supporters.  Class act.

Doubt we’ll see this smothered over the back pages.  Suspect it will be all about Dikamona today.

To be honest I thought him and his team might become casualties of the move to help reduce costs,

im actually speechless (although can still type 😎)

if anybody has the good luck to meet him you have A duty to let him know how we all feel about him, obviously no shaking hands and keep your distance.
what an absolute gem of a man and to be fair his wife also as I’m sure she will have had to be part of the decision making .

I always believed he's one of the good guys. It does come across that he knows what it means to be part of the Hearts family.

Truly a fantastic gesture, regardless of the outcome of this season DS has shown his class. Lets see who else shows such humanity.

I think this is apt at this moment in time

”If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
    If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!”

AMEN!!!!

Actions speak louder then words.  I've seen him in action at Barnsley, he had time for everyone. Hes a top bloke who loves football.

Great gesture.

Interesting to see how much publicity it gets. Someone mentioned Naismith above too.

May be the guys themselves wouldn't want it shouted about I suppose. You don't want to pressure others or make them look bad. Everyone's circumstances differ

Even if we went down I wanted him to get a crack with his own summer signings. Definitely the case after this gesture.

Could we organise a Stendel

fund?

I would be happy to put some cash into it.

When this shit storm of a situation is over and the wages start again we could hand it over in one lump sum?

It would be more of a token of our appreciation rather than an amount to get him back on his feet as I don’t think he is struggling for money.

Having been paid off from his last 2 jobs I think he will be ok financially wise. Nice gesture though and shows the kind of guy he is. This doesn’t make him a good manager though so I know it’s hard for some but try not to confuse the two.

Kidd’s Boots

Selfless leadership from DS, a true statement of solidarity to the cause and decisive action taken by AB. Over the coming days I have no doubt others will make a different decision. In the circumstances, they must make the decision that is right for them too, I will also respect that decision and wish them good luck.

And to Last Laff, we have all done things in the heat of the moment, for right and wrong reasons, but you've stepped up here and I have the same respect for that decision.

We don’t need management at the moment, we need leadership.  Two completely different things.

That's Leadership. I also think Anne Budge is doing the right thing with a temporary wage cut instead of simply laying people off.

That’s a great gesture from Daniel. It shouldn’t be used as a stick to beat anyone else with though as nobody knows each individual’s financial circumstances.

Fair ****s to the guy. Obviously salt of the earth.

I really don’t want to bring Levein/McPhee into this but the contrast is pathetic.

Opinions can change in time and any doubts anyone had over this man football wise no longer matter after he has yet again shown that our club truly does have a huge place in his heart. The overall situation the world faces is one where we will come through it with a far clearer picture of who really are the genuinely decent human beings and who are simply attention seekers that couldn’t face the fact that they are of no importance anymore. Thank you Daniel Stendel for playing your part when it really mattered.
