The basis of the decision to take this to trial will i think reflect badly on the procurator fiscal service as it will with most or maybe all of the other charges. The attempted rape allegation was easily countered with the defence clearly demonstrating with the use of witness testimony that the accuser was not in Bute house for the event she claimed to have attended at the time the attempted rape was alleged to have taken place.
